NEW YORK -- Tai Ping opened its new U.S. headquarters and showroom May 16 in a historic building on the perimeter of Manhattan's Union Square.
The building was formerly the home of the Andy Warhol Factory, the center of Manhattan's avant-garde art world in the 1970's.
Designed by Matthew Baird Design, with additional consultation with a Feng Shui master, the new space merges the contemporary international style with ancient traditions of Mandarin China.
The grand opening party was attended by members of the design community attending this week's International Contemporary Furniture Fair.
The showroom opening was also the introduction of the new management team of Tai Ping Carpets America. The event also featured Edward Fields Carpet Makers, the venerable to-the-trade rug maker which was recently acquired by Tai Ping. (Details, click here)
Tai Ping was launched in 1956 to preserve China's tradition of handmade carpets. The company markets products worldwide to design professionals, the hospitality market, collectors and retailers.
Tai Ping makes woven Wilton, Axminster and hand tufted carpets and rugs.
