EMMA GARDNER TO SHOW RUGS AND NEW FURNITURE PROGRAM AT ICFF
LITCHFIELD, CT – Emma Gardner Design, LLC will debut its new designs, Cascade, Fire Island and Whisper as well as introduce prototypes of a new graphics program, a collaborative effort between Emma Gardner Design and furniture company Wendell Castle Collection, during the 2009 International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York, May 16 to 19.
.Both rugs are and-knotted Chinese silk and Tibetan wool constructed with 100 knots per square inch in a 5mm pile. The rugs will retail at $150 per square foot and are available in standard and custom sizing and colors.

The new Whisper palette, featuring neutral shades and representing a new direction for Emma Gardner Design, will be available in all of the company’s rugs. “It was a challenge for me as a designer to find neutral colors that complement my traditionally vibrant palette, and to reinterpret my designs this way,†said Gardner. “Response from the market has been very positive, so we feel that we will really be able to broaden our appeal with Whisper.â€

The company’s collaboration with the Wendell Castle Collection, makers of fine furniture in wood, fiberglass and other finishes, will bring Gardner’s work to two case pieces, Palette and Opus by lacquering original designs as well as re-interpreted graphic elements from rug designs to the pieces’ surfaces. Both Opus and Palette are fully customizable. Palette will retail for $12,500 and Opus from $28,000 to $32,000. Both are currently available to the trade and will be at retail in September. The rugs and cases will be available at showrooms and through custom order beginning this summer.
Patrick McDarrah, president of Emma Gardner Design,was recently named president of the Wendell Castle Collection, and will oversee both companies. Gardner serves as a creative consultant.
The International Contemporary Furniture Fair (ICFF) will take place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York, May 16 to 19, 2009.
