CONCEPT DESIGN CENTERS
DANBURY, CT – Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. has recently opened the first three stores in its new concept Design Center program. The new Design Centers are located in Springfield, MA, Lansing, MI and Davenport, IA. The new concept Design Centers range in size from 3,000 to 6,000 sq. ft. and offer consumers access to all Ethan Allen products and services.
The new concept Design Centers are smaller in scale than conventional Ethan Allen Design Center stores, according to Farooq Kathwari, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Ethan Allen.
“These Design Centers carry a sampling of products combined with all the necessary interior design tools including unique capabilities of our new website and the personal service of our design consultants,†said Kathwari. “We are pleased to be able to provide access to the full range of our products in the more intimate new concept Design Centers, which are modeled after the classic professional interior design studio.â€
In addition to the three new concept stores, there are 250 larger-scale Ethan Allen Design Centers in North America. "Now we will also reach many more markets where our new smaller Design Centers are viable. We are having conversations with furniture retailers, interior designers and other entrepreneurs around the country to grow this new concept,†Kathwari said..
Dan Grow, former president and chief executive officer of Drexel Heritage Furniture has been named vice president of international and contract for Ethan Allen. Grow's duties will include spearheading the new concept Design Center initiative both domestically and internationally.
“We are refining and focusing our retail presence, making sure we have the right locations and the right size Design Center for each market,†Kathwari said.
“We are pleased that even during these challenging times we continue to move our business forward in both domestic and international markets,†said Farooq Kathwari, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Ethan Allen.
Ethan Allen has opened 13 larger-scale Design Centers since the beginning of its fiscal year in July, 2008, following a record 23 opened in the US and abroad during the prior fiscal year.
The 13 new Design Centers opened this fiscal year include four in China. Ethan Allen has plans to open at least 15 new locations in the US and abroad by December, 2009. An Ethan Allen Design Center is scheduled to open in Dubai, UAE this summer.
The company also recently launched a new website, ethanallen.com, which has been recognized as an Outstanding Website by the Web Marketing Association.
"Our new website offers clients the personal service of our interior design professionals with the advantages of up-to-date technology," Kathwari noted.
Ethan Allen Interiors Inc. is an interior design company, manufacturer and retailer of home furnishings. The company sells furniture and decorative accessories through a network of 290 Design Centers in the United States and abroad. 159 of the stores are company-owned. Ethan Allen owns eight manufacturing facilities in the US, which include two sawmills, and one cut-and-sew factory in Mexico. More than 60% of Ethan Allen’s products are made in America, the company said.
