NEW YORK -- Nazmiyal Collection and Damoka New York, two of the leading dealers in the antique rug world, have entered into a merger agreement, according to Jason Nazmiyal and Albert Kamerli, principals of the two companies. The new parent company is Nazmiyal Collection.

For over two decades Nazmiyal has a established a reputation for its collection of antique carpets geared to contemporary trends in interior design and décor. Damoka  is a leading company in the category of traditional, classic Persian rugs. Damoka has amassed its collection over the past 60 years.

"The Damoka Collection will effectively complement Nazmiyal’s more eclectic holdings. Together they will constitute a major presence within the antique carpet industry, with a combined inventory that will offer one of the most extensive and comprehensive collections of antique rugs and carpets in America," said Nazmiyal and Karmeli.

The combined collection will range from from early collector pieces to larger decorative carpets of virtually every type and origin.

"As a consequence of this merger, the companies will be able to accommodate a broad range of taste and requirements comprising the finest, most elegant traditional Persian carpets as well as Oushaks or Deco pieces with a more contemporary decorative flair," the two men said in explaining the synergies of the move.

â€œWe at Nazmiyal are both pleased an honored to have this opportunity to work with the greatest man in our industry and to have him as an associate,”  said Jason Nazmiyal.

â€œI admire the clarity of Jason’s vision and the way he develops a strategy and sticks to it. I see in him the future of the antique carpet industry and the continuation of what I have worked for all my life,” said Karmeli.
