04052016 Rug Fashion Preview High Point Spring 2016 - Part 1

By Carol Tisch & Lisa Vincenti
4/6/2016

HIGH POINT, N.C. -- As buyers get ready for next week's spring 2016 High Point Market, suppliers are ensuring they have plenty of new looks and designs to offer them. Hot licensing debuts, including the TV celebrities Joanna Gaines and Trisha Yearwood programs, give retailers an easy lifestyle story to tell to shoppers.

Popular colors at market cater to the ongoing natural organic trend, where hues are in undyed earthy shades or serene tones of blue, green and, of course, gray. On the other end of the color spectrum, suppliers are offering a more emotive palette, with vivid color combinations featuring rich jewel tones to make the floor become a focal point of a room. That holds true for the bold statements being made by a host of abstract painting inspired designs as well.

While color is always a top determinate, softness is coming in as a strong second with retailers seeking new technologies for added comfort. Finally, the latest fashion trend takes the high-low look to an extreme, with many manufacturers using the technique to create 3-D effects.

RugNews.com introduces a two-part special report that guides you to must-see showrooms in a preview of buzz-worthy new collections, trending colors, price points, and parties, beginning with Part 1 below.
