KALEEN INTROS 15 COLLECTIONS, OUTDOOR BROADLOOM AND HIP FASHION COLORS AT SURFACES 2018

Kaleen will premiere a huge expansion to its broadloom program at next week's Surfaces show, including the Sandy Cay collection which is handmade in India of 100 percent wool.

LAS VEGAS -- On the heels of a 2017 double-digit increase in broadloom sales, Kaleen heads to The International Surface Event 2018 with a whopping 15 new collections and expansions of three existing lines. The new offerings will be shown at Surfaces booth #6357 at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center here, from Jan. 30- Feb. 1.

Kaleen puts strong emphasis on fashion and color in the debuting lines with 77 new color variations offered between the premiering designs. "In floor covering stores, we typically see all beige or all grey. That's okay, but we feel strongly that the customer wants to see color. We cover all the bases in neutrals, but at Surfaces we'll be showing jewel tones, space-dyed yarns, fun colors," says Blake Dennard, senior vice president of Kaleen. That's especially true of the company's recently launched indoor-outdoor broadlooms, which feature on-trend palettes including bright yellow, emerald, persimmon, and more.

Kaleen's new indoor outdoor Boca collection (left) and coordinating space-dyed solids bring a fresh fashion color statement to the broadloom market.

Surfaces show shoppers will also find a new two-tier point of sale merchandising unite that updates Kaleen's previous single-tier fixture, the new one now showcasing the breadth of the collection with 52 styles on 26 display cards -- and room for additional boards as the line grows.

Kaleen's new two-tier point of sale merchandising unit makes it easy to select pattern, texture, and color, as well as showcasing custom rug options.

The fixture also holds binding samples and a brand new catalog illustrates each broadloom design in a wall to wall setting as well as a room with broadloom fabricated into an area rug. "Our custom rug program is very popular with the Surfaces audience and we wanted to show a rug application for every one of our products," Dennard explained. All Kaleen broadlooms are offered in 13' 2" and 16'4" widths, a plus in custom rug and wall to wall applications.

Following are highlights from Kaleen's 2018 introductions:

Anegada Collection

The Anegada collection, with its natural hues, was inspired by the northernmost of the British Virgin Islands. The jacquard loomed flatweave, made in India of wool and polyester, features a descending diamond pattern.

Beacon Hill Collection

Beacon Hill, inspired by the historic Boston neighborhood with its gas lit, brick lined streets, showcases a sweater-y loops of heavy space-dyed wool for added depth and texture. It is hand-tufted in India.

Boca Collection

The indoor-outdoor Boca collection, available in a selection of bright jewel tones, is a flatweave hand loomed in India from PET polyester for easy care and increased durability.

Oil Nut Bay Collection

Oil Nut Bay, named for one of the Virgin Islands, weaves calming neutrals and creams in a concentric diamond pattern. Available in softer tones and bolder contrasting color combinations, the flat-weave carpet is hand loomed in India from 100 percent wool.

Peter Island 2 Collection

Peter Island 2 adds a new twist on the popular herringbone pattern with box stripes in contrasting colors. The result is a tailored textile look. The flatweave is hand loomed in India of 100 wool and comes in natural colorways.

Sandy Cay Collection

Kaleen creates a simple basket weave design for Sandy Cay with wool yarns in soft natural tones and a contrasting stripe for interest.
