HOUSTON -- Remodeling Guru Amy Wynn Pastor has been named the new spokesperson for Carpet One Floor & Home, according to Evan Hackel, president of the floor covering retail cooperative.

Pastor was introduced to Carpet One retailers at the company's Winter convention held here Jan. 9 to 13. She will be featured in Carpet One Floor & Home’s new marketing campaign that will include a range of media, from television, print, direct mail, and interactive online platforms.

“Amy Wynn Pastor has a lot of credibility with our target customer,” said Hackel in making the announcement.

“Carpet One Floor & Home is prominent in the floor covering and home remodeling industries. Our partnership will help many men and women find the best solutions for their remodeling problems,” Pastor added.

Pastor also told Rugnews.com that her spokesperson duties may be expanded to designing exclusive product lines in the future, as she becomes more deeply involved in the floor covering industry. "I consider myself a carpenter, so it's no surprise that I really love wood floors. That category would be a natural in terms of offering design input," she said.

Pastor is an expert in the home design and remodeling industries.  She is the star of such Learning Channel reality shows as Trading Spaces and Trading Spaces:  Family Edition. She is also the author of Yes! You Can!. She will  star on the upcoming TV series Make a Move on the DIY Network.

Pastor has been featured  on Entertainment Weekly’s  "It" list of the 100 Most Creative People in Entertainment, Esquire’s “The Women We Love” list and USA Today’s “Pop Candy’s People of the Year.”

Known principally for her "how to" advice for do-it-yourself home projects, Pastor said she also wants people to know where to draw the line in terms of professional installation. "Floor covering is an area that requires expert professional installation, I would certainly not recommend it for do-it-yourselfers," she said.

In a series of modular national and local television advertising spots, Carpet One store owners can morph their own images into the ads, making it appear that they are on the screen with Pastor.  "This allows the store owner to take advantage of both the national and local benefits of Carpet One advertising," notedStan Langer, director of advertising.

Carpet One Floor & Home is composed of more than 1,000 independently owned and operated locations in the United States, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand.  Carpet One Floor & Home stores are known for a broad selection of carpet, wood, laminate, ceramic, vinyl, and area rugs, including exclusive brands like Liz Claiborne Home, Good Housekeeping and Lees.
