Rug Introductions Amp Up Value at New York Home Fashions Market

The New York Home Fashions Market kicks off Sept.11 and area rug showrooms, expecting a brisk market, are rolling out a range of innovative collections driven by top trends to boost value and help major retailers meet goals.

Fashions Market.


NEW YORK -- The New York Home Fashions Market kicks off Sept.11 and area rug showrooms, expecting a brisk market, are rolling out a range of innovative collections that up value and help big box retailers, mass merchants and e-tailers meet sales goals.

In fact, during the summer Las Vegas Market, several participating area rug wholesalers noted that machine-made rugs and value handmade constructions were helping their businesses experience continued growth. For the fall edition of New York Market Week, many are also expecting solid turnout.

Notes Satya Tiwari, president, Surya, "We have worked to develop products that give a lot of perceived value, such as machine-woven rugs that utilize yarns like space-dyed polyester, soft polypropylene and polyester shrink yarns in multiple textures. The goal is to create fashion-forward rugs that are very soft and heavy."

Nourison is also heading to New York market with full roster of fresh rugs. "We have a great selection of new products that we are eager to show our customers, said Giovani Marra, VP of marketing and creative. "We have a strong appointment list and are expecting a good market."

Says Matthew Rouhanian, founder of Dynamic Rugs, "We're definitely expecting a better turnout compared to spring and last fall markets. We are booked every day with the regularly attending big box stores.”

Executives at Harounian Rugs International (HRI) are also bullish on the fall season with Lee Harounian, saying, "It's the beginning of the season and a majority of the big box stores will be here in NY. We  have a number of appointments for this market and we predict a very good market for all."

Loloi also has high expectations for fall Market Week and has more than doubled its footprint. Loloi's Austin Craley, VP sales, notes, "We anticipate attendance will be up for this market and are very excited to showcase our expanded space and assortments. We have doubled our showroom space and have also greatly expanded our bath rug assortment, crafting some very innovative and creative constructions that are both fresh and exciting."

Reza Momeni, president and CEO, Momeni said, "We're excited to head back to the city for Home Fashions Market, showcasing new value-driven collections. After a wonderful summer, we're eager to reunite with our customers and share our latest creations, including two brand new collections for our Erin Gates by Momeni line."

Industry newcomer Well Woven's Adem Ogunc said, "We're noticing more excitement around this year's market compared to last fall and even March 2023. We're booking more appointments, and it’s a clear signal of a market on the rebound."

Among the featured constructions are performance designs for indoors and out, fresh printed looks mimicking vintage area rugs, styles that stress plushness, softness and dense construction, and tonal high-low looks that are full of texture yet offering easy to decorate with tonal motifs.

Dynamic Rugs Cameron collection has a soft hand and lustrous finish.

For market attendees Dynamic Rugs is introducing a wide variety of new constructions and blended materials. Among the highlights are Cameron, a new cross-woven construction consisting of traditional and transitional designs. Cameron provides a soft touch, and is crafted of blending of polyester and viscose (5’3” x 7’7” $679.99 MSRP). Another debut is the Carina collection, which mixes neutrals with earth-tone colors, and consists of traditional and modern designs with plush pile made from a fine polyester. (5’3” x 7’7” $399.99 MSRP). Finally Kenzy, an outdoor rug, made of twisted high-grade polypropylene, is woven to look more like a handmade jute area rug (5’3”7 x 7’7” $229.99 MSRP).

HRI introduces Regal for its big box and mass merchant buyers.

HRI will feature several new collections for its major retail clients stopping in the showroom during NY Home Fashions Market. Among the highlights are a new machine-washable collection, Santana, crafted of polyester, which includes a range of design styles and offers runner size. Another fresh addition is Regal, which offers traditional designs in trending colorations, is machine-made of polyester. Finally another highlight is Amsterdam, machine-woven of cotton and polyester, and which offers vintage-style motifs.

LOLOI

Loloi's Mildred collection features the tight loop and textural details buyers are looking for in tufted rugs.

Loloi is doubling its showroom footprint at 260 Fifth Ave. expanding to the third floor of the showroom building. The extra space allows the company to showcase its growing roster of not only bath mats but also to better showcase its growing lineup of home accents, including pillows, poufs and throws, which have become popular categories for Loloi.

In the area rug and scatter categories, Loloi will feature many new power-loomed designs and collections, including outdoor pieces. It will also continue to offer tufted designs for buyers seeking a step-up product. The Mildred collection includes geometrics in both warm brown tones and a bolder black and gray palette, warmed up by light brown and beige tones. Mildred rugs are tufted of wool in a tight loop construction that has become a popular choice for retailers. A counterpoint is Noel, also in a tufted loop construction, which features classic rug motifs in contemporary colorations.

Momeni introduces Dorset which offers patterns inspired by textile designs.

Momeni is expanding its popular Erin Gates lineup for fall New York marketgoers. Notably Momeni is expanding the collaboration's indoor-outdoor assortment, among its best-selling from the line, with the debut of Saybrook by Erin Gates. Saybrook offers an intricate diamond pattern suitable for indoors and out. Momeni's Dorset collection pays homage to the rich history of textile design and is crafted of practical contemporary materials. Another featured lineup is Everett. This collection offers raised motif in a natural tonal palette in an array of design styles. These rugs are tufted of 100 percent wool.

Natco Home rolls out its new indoor-outdoor Colorscapes assortment.

Natco Home showcases its made in the US area rugs at the upcoming fall Home Fashions Market. Says the company's Mark Ferullo, EVP, "We are optimistic for the fall season and into 2024. Attendees will be looking for value and fashion with quick delivery."

Among the expected popular choices are new tonal, textural additions to Natco’s popular Stonington collection in neutral ivory and beige colorations. Stonington blends ultra-soft fine denier polypropylene and heat shrink polyester to create a multi- dimensional high and low effect, with a one-inch pile and a dense construction. The company also grows its indoor-outdoor assortment with the new Colorscape collection. Colorscapes is an easy-care solution for high traffic areas and busy homes. Rugs are woven of 100 percent polypropylene that is cabled and heat-set, The collection includes a range of styles from updated classic look to a tropical leaf and a simple bordered design. Finally Natco's Landscape collection, which offers an ultra-soft pile is a blend of ten heat-set yarns and one shrink yarn, sees a a line extension for summer shoppers.

Andes debuts at Nourison and offers high-low weaving style and subtle patterns.

Nourison’s New York Home Fashions Market introductions include several new area rug additions, including its first rugs crafted recycled yarn, called Sustainable Trends, plus a range of new scatters and decorative pillows. Among the area rug introductions is Andes, influenced by Nordic design. These neutral rugs feature simple designs and a high-low weaving style that adds subtle pattern. Made from a blend of polyester and polypropylene with an incredibly plush texture, these rugs are easy to clean. Another highlight which grows Nourison’s plush lineup is Cozy Shimmer. This collection of shag rugs is ultra soft and lustrous, uniquely hand-tufted by skilled artisans. The plush pile is accented with metallic gold highlights for a glam twist. Made of polyester, the rugs feature a non-slip back to keep them in place.

ORIENTAL WEAVERS

Among the featured OW debuts is Atlantic, which offers high-low construction and soft hand.

OW's sprawling duplex showroom will introduce hundreds of new rugs for Market Week shoppers. Among the showcased collections is Atlantis. Atlantis rugs are made of polypropylene with a shrink polyester for a high-low construction. Atlantis offers a super soft hand and designs range from textured traditionals to modern abstracts with one geometric pattern. Another introduction is Bennett, which is power-loomed of soft, textured yarn in a dense, high-pile construction. It has a luxurious hand and is colored in cool tones of blue and gray as well as accents of warm earthy brown, cinnamon, and deep red. These textural, abstract designs are made in Egypt of 100 percent polypropylene. Shoppers can expect to see some of the company's newest machine-washable designs.

Safavieh introduces Odyssey, a lineup of soft polyester designs with modest cut pile.

Safavieh rolls out new introductions featuring the sought after qualities major retailers are looking for. Among the highlights is the new Luna collection, which offers classic rug motifs refreshed in vibrant colors (including rust and navy) and lush textures. Luna is power-loomed using soft synthetic yarns in a plush cut pile (0.75”) for incredible comfort underfoot. Sizes include two runner options, a square 6'7" option and rectangles up to 9x12. Likewise, the Odyssey assortment also features plush feel underfoot. This collection is comprised of modern graphic styles, contemporary geometrics and transitional designs. Odyssey rugs are power-loomed of soft polyester in a modest cut pile, and are pet and family friendly. Available sizes are: 2'-2" x 8' runner, square and round in 6'7", and rectangles from 4x6 up to 9x12.

Surya's brand new Avellino collection is the company's plushest and heaviest high pile machine-made assortment.

Surya will introduce value- and fashion-driven rug collections that offer plenty of perceived value for retailers heading to the fall New York Home Fashions Market. Surya expects buyers to give a thumbs up to its new Avellino collection, which is the company's plushest, heaviest high-pile machine-woven collection. It uses a next-generation space-dyed yarn system that features up to 42 colors per rug. Styles include traditional and abstract designs in trending colorations. Another featured collection, Margaret, adds a new construction to the company's Becki Owens lineup, offering its first woven printed qualities. Finally, Primo is a polyester textured shag collection in a range of transitional styles, with a 1.25" pile with multiple yarn thicknesses and an extremely heavy weave structure.

Tayse returns to NY Home Fashions Market with new assortments including Myles, offering a dense construction.

“For this market we took a very focused approach to what we will be presenting to our customers," said Sadi Sevimli, Tayse CEO. "We have expanded our offerings in categories that are already working well for buyers in the retail and big-box segments through the addition of new designs, updated creels and new textures in proven constructions. We are also debuting several new products which are exclusive to Tayse.”

Highlights include Myles, a dense, machine-made collection woven from a combination of three different yarn systems, which come together to produce a heavily textured, yet incredibly soft hand. Noelle, a plush, textured cross-woven collection, is made of space-dyed and shrink polyester yarns. It is available in a variety of traditional and transitional designs. Finally, Zarabi is a woven printed machine-washable 100 percent polyester chenille collection with near limitless design and color possibilities.

In addition to these new collections, Tayse will debut several additions to its Dazzle indoor-outdoor collection, a hit with retail buyers when introduced at the winter market.

Well Woven adds new abstract looks to its washable Apollo collection for New York Market Week.

Well Woven expects the upcoming New York Home Fashions market to be a defining event for the company, said Ogunc. "Our key focus is delivering values in good, better, and best qualities. We're also spotlighting outdoor and printed rugs this season, as they've been pivotal in our range. Among the spotlighted collections are flat-weave rugs, particularly the Asha and Apollo collections. These rugs offer vintage-styled motifs and contemporary designs. The printed patterns achieve high-quality detail and nuanced color with the comfort and convenience of soft, low-pile rugs that are easy to clean. Offering a recycled cotton backing, these pieces are stain-resistant and machine-washable. 

The Feliz collection debuts with a thick, high-low pile and a mid-century-inspired arch pattern, available in monochrome ivory or ivory and black. Felize offers a 100 percent polyester pile.
