ICFF 2017 DRAWS IN SEVERAL NEW RUG EXHIBITORS, PLUS SOHO DESIGN DISTRICT

NEW YORK -- The 2017 edition of ICFF proves a hotbed of contemporary area rug designs, attracting eight additional rug exhibitors ranging from young Brooklyn studios to boutique U.S. rug galleries and international makers of fine area rugs. In addition to more than 24 exhibitors showcasing their assortments, New York City's Soho Design District will take its first booth, a collective exhibit including several high-end area and home furnishings players.
Newcomers Ayka Design, Avo, Chilewich, Etnik Halicilik, Limited Edition, Manor & Mews/Obeetee, Ornate Rugs London, Pappelina, and Weese Rugs join returning ICFF area rug manufacturers including Bokara Rug, Eliko, Creative Touch, French Accents, Lucy Tupu, Marc Phillips Decorative Rugs, Mastour, Nasiri Carpets, Orley Shabahang, Tibetano, Samad Brothers, S&H Rugs, Summit Rugs, Warp & Weft, Woven Concepts, and more.
ICFF, a four day show running from May 21-24 at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center, includes more than 700 high-end luxury brands in the architecture and interior design field.
AYKA DESIGN

London-based interior designer K. Michelle Evans brings her hand-crafted, intricate designs to the ICFF. Ayka Design, which recently participated in Venice Design (read full story) will showcase its collection of award-winning bespoke rugs, including Belem, a finalist at the NYCxDesign Awards (read full story). AVO

Avo, a Brooklyn design studio, creates bold contemporary hand-painted cowhide rugs and introduces its new In Context collection to ICFF attendees. The company will debut not only its area rugs but will showcase an assortment of pillows, upholstery, custom accessories and wall coverings. ICFF, booth #779.
CHILEWICH SULTAN
Chilewich, known for its minimalist innovative designs, debuts at ICFF. Shown, Waves.
The New York-based innovative textiles designer Sandy Chilewich, founder and creative director of Chilewich | Sultan, a company managed with her partner and husband Joe Sultan, debuts at the ICFF. The company, launched in 2000 with her signature placemats and floormats, continues to grow its area rug assortment, and has been a long-time participant of NY Now, held in February and August in NYC. ETNIK HALICILIK
Turkish rug maker Etnik Halicilik debuts at ICFF 2017. Above, patchwork rug.
Etnik Halicilik, a name more familiar to Domotex and Maison & Objet attendees, joins the lineup at ICFF bringing its made in Turkey designs to the fair. The company will showcase its contemporary patchwork designs at the New York fair. ICFF, booth #2669.
LIMITED EDITION
Limited Edition carpets introduces ICFF shoppers to its textural Chic Collection in five fashion colorways.
Seen regularly at Salone del Mobile and IMM Cologne, Limited Edition rugs of Belgium takes a booth at ICFF 2017 to show off its diverse collections of hand-crafted rugs. LE introduces its Chic Collection made from linen, polyester, cotton and viscose to the U.S. fair's shoppers following the textural solid range's debut at European shows earlier this year.
MANOR & MEWS/OBEETEE
Obeetee and sister company Manor & Mews share a booth at ICFF to display Manor's growing assortment of contemporary furnishings and some Obeetee rugs, including the pictured Lhasa collection design.
Sister companies Manor & Mews and Obeetee debut at ICFF sharing a booth. Manor & Mews is the rug maker's recently launched contemporary furniture brand introduced last fall during the New York Home Fashions Market (read more). Two Obeetee rugs will be on display to complement the furniture, a company spokesperson stated. Obeetee is hosting a cocktail party on May 22 in its NYC showroom at 137 W. 25th Street, 12th floor, from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. ICFF, booth #2548.
ORNATE RUGS

UK-based Ornate Rugs London crosses the pond for the first time to show at ICFF in an effort to expand its market in the U.S. The company crafts its handmade rugs in Afghanistan and Pakistan. ICFF, booth #113
PAPPELINA
Swedish handcrafted area rug maker Pappelina debuts its lively made-in-Sweden plastic rugs. Pictured, Honey.
Swedish area rug maker Pappelina, which handcrafts its rugs at a Swedish mill, will present its latest hand-woven plastic rug collection at its inaugural ICFF. The company, founded by Swedish designer Lina Rickardsson in 1998, has grown to include an assortment of home textile ranging from pillows to towels. "In 2013, we decided to do the NY Now show. The success was instant and we have been doing at least one show per year since 2013. We wanted to expand our horizon and open up our market for interior design; we felt that it was time for us to do ICFF," Rickardsson said. ICFF, booth #943
WEESE RUGS
Designer Marcia Weese of Weese Rugs debuts her latest modernist collection, Geo [metry], at ICFF.
Award-winning artist and designer Marcia Weese, head of Carbondale, Colorado-based Weese Rugs and the daughter of modernist architect Harry Weese and interior designer Kitty Baldwin Weese, debuts at ICFF with a new modernist inflected area rug collection called Geo [metry]. Based on the clear order of the grid, the new range, made of Tibetan wool with silk accents at 100 knots per square inch, is available in a cool and calm palette of blues, grays and whites. Each rug is hand knotted by Tibetan women in Nepal.ICFF, booth #943.
SOHO DESIGN DISTRICT
The SoHo Design District, an organization created to promote the neighborhood as a premier destination for world-renowned design, takes an inaugural booth at the ICFF to showcase its 30 member brands. Designed by b-havior, the collective booth (#2879) features area rugs, furniture, lighting, flooring, home accessories, with top rug names including Gan, Nanimarquina and The Rug Company. Other prestigious brands Artemide, Luceplan, Gandia Blasco and Kartell, are among those also on show.
The group will host its third annual SoHo Design District Design Night on May 22, with all participating showrooms open and serving cocktails from 6 p.m.-9 p.m.
