Nourison took the wraps off its new Big Apple 260 Fifth Ave. showroom for the fall edition of New York Home Fashions Market.
NEW YORK -- Nourison Home unveiled its new 260 Fifth Ave. showroom and an extensive array of rugs, mats and home textiles designed exclusively for the big box/mass market channel at this week’s NY Home Fashions Market.
“We are very happy with our new showroom,” Alex Peykar, Nourison president, told RugNews in an exclusive interview. Although it is only slightly larger than Nourison’s previous space at 230 Fifth Ave., Peykar said the layout is already allowing his sales team to accomplish more in terms of sales and presentation. The showroom, which comprises the entire second floor, also features better amenities, such as a kitchen area, separate conference room and dedicated showrooms for its coveted Calvin Klein and DKNY licensed collections.

Nourison Home's 260 Fifth Avenue showroom comprises the entire second floor, allowing the company to showcase
its Calvin Klein and DKNY licensed goods in distinct spaces.
A pioneer in tailoring products specifically for NY Home Fashions shoppers, Nourison was among the first importers in the industry to create a separate division for mass merchants. “The products we have here are developed specifically for this channel and are not shown at any other markets. They are not sold in Vegas or High Point. This is a totally separate division, managed and run by a different team. They work diligently to design and develop products. It’s a good, growing division for us.
To that point, Peykar said appointments for this week’s show were very good, and he credits the team for the company’s jam-packed appointment roster. “New York is strictly an appointment driven market. Even when we were at 295 Fifth, we never had walk-ins for NY market. But I have to say -- appointments for this market are good – very, very good."

The DKNY licensed program by Nourison Home now showcases 8x10 rugs and its scatter and mat program in one
cohesive space.
Touring the new showroom with RugNews, Peykar explained: “It’s not a gigantic or huge space, but we managed to use 8x10 racks throughout, which makes for a more impressive presentation of our products. Being able to show 8x10s is a big plus for us.”
“Another very good positive is that it allows us to have dedicated showrooms for our Calvin Klein and DKNY programs, so they are not mixed with everything we carry,” he explained. What’s more, there is enough space to show a comprehensive cross-category array of the licensors’ area rugs, wellness and scatter rug programs for this market. There’s also a special section for Mina Victory, which continues to do well for Nourison.

Nourison Home enhanced its product presentation at the new 260 Fifth Ave. location, opting to showcase 8x10 rugs throughout.

The Nourison Home showroom offers high ceilings allowing the company to present its area rugs in 8x10 format, along with home accessories.
About the company’s coveted Calvin Klein and DKNY licenses, and their exclusive multi-channel lines, Peykar said, “What makes these programs so successful for us is that we work really diligently to design collections along with these partners, to ensure that the collections reflect ech of their distinct styles. You can put a designer label on a product, but that won’t sell by itself. The product has to reflect the brand. In reality if you don’t have the right color and design, it’s not going to do well, but if you have the right color and design, then the brand name helps push it over the top."
As for the two licenses, he said, "working with them is exciting: they both have different design directions, but the reality is they are still in the modern, simple look that consumers gravitate to today."

Nourison Home's new showroom offers Calvin Klein brand rugs, scatters and mats in one location.
The larger footprint of the new Nourison Home showroom allows for an airier presentation of product.
