PORT WASHINGTON, NY – Safavieh will launch its first children’s rug collection with 10 original designs to be marketed under the label Safavieh Kids. The line will be introduced at the company’s World Market Center showroom A-101, during Las Vegas Market.  Safavieh Kids will be previewed during the Atlanta International Rug Market at Safavieh’s Americasmart showroom, 5-A-2.

The rugs are hand tufted of New Zealand wool. They are made in India and will retail for  $400 in 5x8 size.

Patterns range from a butterfly garden to colorful strings of pop beads, to safari animals and several whimsical florals.  One design, called Princess Paisley, features a large open field with tracery inspired by traditional motifs in paisley fabrics.  Another called Just Beachy is a quirky montage of sun, sea and sand. 

“The new collection will work equally well in pre-schoolers’ and pre-teens’ bedrooms, and some also work as fun accent rugs in beach cottages or guest rooms,” said Arash Yaraghi, a principal of Safavieh.

“A benefit to these clean and crisp designs is that they adapt to changes in furniture as the child grows older.  That same clarity of pattern allows for better readability on websites and catalog pages, which are increasingly important in kids’ retail,” said Yaraghi.

The Atlanta International Area Rug Market will take place, July 15 to 18 at Americasmart and the Las Vegas Market will take place Aug. 2 to 6 at World Market Center.
