patterned broadloom collection.

RINGGOLD, GA. -- Shaw Industries has begun manufacturing Wilton-woven patterned olefin broadloom for the residential market. Production began in early January at the  Shaw Living manufacturing facility here,  Jeff Brown, vice president of Shaw Living, told Rugnews.com.

The broadloom will be marketed and sold through Shaw's residential sales force. The first collections include 30 designs. There are three color creels in two qualities -- 1.4 million point and 600,000 point, according to Brown.

There will also be a group of color and pattern-coordinated rugs which will be sold and marketed through the Shaw Living organization, Brown added.

"The rugs will be designed as true rugs. They will not be cut broadloom," he emphasized.

Brown said that the time was right for Shaw to enter the Wilton broadloom business. "With Shaw's reputation for service, quality, delivery and distribution, we should be in the woven broadloom business," said Brown. "We feel this category represents a major growth opportunity."

The new broadloom is being shown at Shaw's Winter regional markets throughout the U.S. in January and February.
