NOURISON INTRODUCES NEWEST LICENSE PARTNER STUDIO NYC DESIGN IN RUN UP TO NY HOME FASHIONS MARKET

NEW YORK -- Nourison hosted a press breakfast today introducing its latest license partner, Studio NYC Design, at its Textiles Building showroom as the flooring and home accents maker gears up for New York Home Fashions Market, March 19-22.

The new program of coordinated area rugs, pillows and throws are designed by Nancy Fire, co-founder and creative director of Manhattan-based Studio NYC Design, and targets Millennials, of which Fire pointed out, she has two.

The Nourison team strikes a pose with Studio NYC Design's Nancy Fire, who created the new license program. Clockwise from back left, Karen Kaziani and Julie Roseblum, Nourison, Nancy Fire, and Mina Peykar, Nourison.

Featuring eight area rug designs, the debuting Organic Modern collection simulates a jacquard weave with subtly raised patterns with a chenille-like high-low construction to create a texture within the weave.

"This collection is geared toward the Millennials -- it's a casual, young style that is value driven while being affordable. It fills the white spaces of those first apartments and homes, even dorm rooms," said Julie Rosenblum, executive director of licensing at Nourison, told RugNews.com. "Organic Modern tells a whole story and the rugs coordinate with one another and can be placed in the bedroom, dining room and living room for a complete story. They also tie into the pillows and throws."

Nourison's new license program with Studio NYC Design includes a range of simulated jacquard weave area rugs in nature-inspired designs. Shown, Phases.

The line created by Fire, which also includes fabrics made in partnership with P/K Lifestyles, features an organic, modern and natural energy, and the rugs carry names (Currents, Riverbed, Tide and Phases) based on the elements from which they are inspired. The color palette includes popular combinations of blues, grays, ivories and beiges. They carry an affordable suggested retail price of $199 in 5x7 and $399 in 8x10. Pillows run from $29.99 to $49.99 and throws are $129.99.

Nourison's new area rugs by Studio NYC Design feature a soft high-low texture.

"I was inspired by bringing the outdoors indoors and I wanted to create a collection where price, value, texture and theme come together," Fire said. "Duality was really important to us, so we mixed concepts together. It allows us to be arbiters of style to the Millennials. For instance they want affordability but also are socially conscious. We also mixed textures, such as embellishment and shag, for dimension. It is value without looking value," she added of Millennial sensibilities.

The inaugural Studio NYC collection by Nourison will debut at New York Home Fashions Market and earns a spot in Nourison's 295 Fifth Ave. showroom entry window display.
