PRODUCT VIDEOS IN 2011

WINCHESTER, VA – Rugs Direct, the online rug retailer,  will launch short videos featuring rug products in 2011, according to Randy Kremer, president.

Each video is approximately one minute and thirty seconds long and focuses on a single rug collection, Kremer explained. It includes a professionally produced audio track with announcer and music, plus a variety of room scenes and product shots. The videos are created in high definition so that customers can easily see each rug’s weave, color variations and other details.  

“We have videos featuring several collections from Surya, Jaipur, Sphinx, Momeni and Kaleen,” noted Bill Martin, senior vice president of merchandising for the retailer. “We anticipate adding videos from many more of our suppliers in the coming months.”

“This is a great way to demonstrate a product like an area rug,” said Kremer. “Instead of simply showing a photograph on a static web page, we can demonstrate the rug in a variety of room environments and easily convey the numerous colors, patterns and styles that exist in these collections. By combining pictures and sound in an entertaining manner, we can tell the ‘story’ of the rug in a way that will help our customers make an intelligent buying decision.”

Rugs Direct also has a channel on YouTube and all of the company’s rug videos are hosted there. However, the videos are configured to play in a pop-up window that appears on the Rugs Direct website. The controls for the videos are very intuitive, allowing the viewer to pause, rewind, replay, change resolution or even watch the video full screen.
