SPACE TO TELL SHAGGY RUG STORY
 

HIGH POINT, NC—Safavieh has added a 1,000 sq. ft. specialty showroom adjacent to its main space at  High Point's Historic Market Square. The new unit, (MS-121)will accommodate a major new program of designer shag and novelty textured rugs.

Safavieh’s rugs and furniture showrooms already comprise 10,000 square feet in Historic Market Square 120 and 123.

The new showroom and products will be unveiled at the International Home Furnishings Market, Oct.  16-21, 2010.

The new showroom, Market Square 121, was formerly occupied by Liora Manne and Lamontage Rugs. “This space was the perfect natural addition to our High Point presence, allowing us to show the scope and breadth of our new developments for contemporary lifestyle customers,” said Arash Yaraghi, a Safavieh principal.

The goal of the new program is to offer shag rugs and textures in an array of price points for every consumer’s taste and budget, Yaraghi noted.

Five new wool designer shag collections will be introduced at High Point market. .

Manhattan is a new-generation shag rug created by Safavieh to meet the design trend to luxurious and innovative textures used in today’s interior decorating, according to the company. The hand-knotted rugs are made in India using individual petals of felted New Zealand wool. Manhattan rugs will retail for $1,056 in  6x8 size.

Tribeca is a  shag that is hand knotted in India using thick felted wool yarns. These rugs use  white New Zealand wool as the foundation for a palette of clean, brilliant colors.  Retail price is $756 for the 6x9 size.

In addition, Safavieh will introduce five  collections of polypropylene shags will also debut at prices ranging from $249 to $499 in 6x9 size. All the rug are power-loomed in India with pile heights in individual collections ranging from three to five inches

All Safavieh shags are available in seven standard rug sizes plus two round rugs for even more creative decorating looks.

“Whether the consumer’s home is state of the art contemporary or Mid-20th century modern, shag rugs complement many interior design schemes," said Yaraghi. "We find that in addition to use on hard surface floors, shag rugs are now being used to add additional texture to rooms with wall to wall carpeting,” Yaraghi said.
