KARASTAN TO LAUNCH FIRST AMERICAN-MADE INDOOR/OUTDOOR RUGS
Portico, Karastan's first domestically made indoor-outdoor collection, will debut at summer markets along with Cosmopolitan, an indoor line aimed at younger consumers

SUGAR VALLEY, Ga.-- At the upcoming summer markets in Atlanta and Las Vegas, Karastan will introduce its first domestically made indoor-outdoor collection and a new contemporary line that is driven by the trend for soft, tinted neutrals and by Karastan's desire to reach out to young consumers.
Portico Collection: New Indoor-Outdoor Flat Weaves
Karastan's first steps into the domestically made indoor/outdoor market will be a flat weave collection called Portico that will bring the manufacturer's signature style, color sense and quality to indoor/outdoor living. Portico rugs are constructed of solution-dyed polypropylene with added UV protection for permanent color. Engineered to resist stain, moisture and mold, Portico is an easy-care solution for a natural fiber-look rug and is perfect for layering, a popular trend in home décor today.
Karastan's Cosmopolitan Collection
"The designs in the Cosmopolitan Collection are elegant, sophisticated and contemporary," said Tracy Alan Pruitt, vice president of design Karastan. "Metallics heavily influence the new designs, and the patterns are subtle and textural with a marbling, abstract painting effect. The traditional designs are very distressed and textural."
With Cosmopolitan, Karastan hopes to expand its customer base to those seeking more contemporary and cosmopolitan design aesthetics in sustainable fibers. The collection relies heavily on textural surface pattern. Its palette of muted mid-tones includes current shades such as jade green, orchid and aquamarine on foundations of gray, beige and cream. The overall feel is fun, fresh and spirited.
Cosmopolitan rugs are woven on Van de Wiele looms of space-dyed SmartStrand Silk with a subtle twist and slightly delustered finish. The SmartStrand Silk fibers are paired with an array of viscose yarns in indigo, cream and gold that illuminate the designs and create more surface interest. SmartStrand Silk gives these rugs luxurious softness, built-in stain protection and easy care.
The collection will offer more than 25 rug that complement to modern and contemporary furniture as well as mid-century modern and classic decors.
New Spice Market Patterns
Also this summer, Karastan continues its new take on traditional patterns with additions to its popular Spice Market collection. The new patterns are signature Spice Market: rich in color and texture. Woven on Van De Weile looms in the USA of EverStrand fiber, Karastan's premium polyester produced from up to 100 percent post-consumer content from plastic bottles, Spice Market rugs offer an irresistible soft touch, inherent stain resistance and vivid color clarity.
New Euphoria Patterns
The 2016 summer Euphoria introductions will offer long-awaited new colors of indigo, bronze, black and a soft gold. Crafted of SmartStrand Silk in the USA, the patterns in the new Euphoria rugs are transitional and textural.
