HIGH POINT MARKET AUTHORITY SETS
SEMINAR SERIES TOPICS FOR FALL SHOW

HIGH POINT, NC – The High Point Market Authority, in association with the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) has set the schedule for its Design Viewpoints Series at the Fall High Point Market, October 19 to 24, 2013.

The seminars will take place October 20 to 22, starting each day at noon at the High Point Theatre, next to the Transportation Terminal in downtown High Point.

The series offers up to .3 continuing education units (CEUs) to those who attend. Sponsored by Horchow, all seminars in the series are free to interior designers and retailers attending the Fall High Point Market.

Sunday, October 20 

From All Corners: Exploring Diversity in Design in the 21st Century

Presented by Aphrochic founders Jeanine Hays and Bryan Mason 

From All Corners is a panel conversation bringing together a group of today's most prominent designers of color, to discuss creating personalized spaces as well as the presence and role of ethnic diversity in the design tastes of an increasingly globalized world. Topics will include the influence of ethnic background on design style and meeting the needs of a multicultural clientele. A book signing will follow for Hays’ and Mason’s new book Decorating with Culture, Objects and Soul. .1 CEU credit.
 

Monday, October 21 

Researching Home: Evidence-Based Residential Design 

In this session, attendees will learn how each element of design impacts the psychological perceptions and comfort of a client, why interviewing the clients enhances your design programming, how the information you discover about your client helps you prioritize projects to deliver maximum return on their investment and this session will arm you with the information and resources you need to enhance your design decisions. The session is based on the ASID whitepaper – Evidence-Based Residential Design by Sally Augustin, Ph.D. and Barbara B. Miller, ASID. .1 CEU credit.

Let the Color Tell the Story - Trends to Watch for 2014  

Presented by Steve Shorthouse, PPG’s national color and design consultant 

Shorthouse will tell five key color stories that will provide unique inspiration for creative color design. This session will take an in-depth look at the biggest trends and societal influences on residential interior design and discuss the effects of color on design. .1 CEU credit
