ORIENTAL WEAVERS FOCUSES NY MARKET ON EXCLUSIVITY; DESIGN & COLOR COMPATIBILITY REIGNS AT FALL MARKETS

Oriental Weavers offers color coordination between collections as shown in this display featuring a spice-tone story with Mantra rugs on the wall and floor, and its Loft Shag (left roll), and Montage (abstract roll in foreground right) along with tall Atlas roll.

NEW YORK -- In its sprawling 295 Fifth Ave. showroom, suite 719, Oriental Weavers showcases racks upon racks of its latest collections and designs, many geared specifically toward mass merchants, big box retailers, online players and catalogers who come in during NY Home Fashions market to stock up on fashion-driven rugs.

In fact, the Dalton, Georgia-based rug behemoth always has plenty of hot off the loom arrivals at the New York show, and the fall 2018 installment will prove no exception. Following a successful March event, where the company added some 20 new collections for New York show customers, Oriental Weavers will focus again next week on exclusivity for its larger retailers.

"We will show the six new collections we launched in Atlanta and Las Vegas, but plan to feature additional new collections for the NY audience," Angie Shook, OW director of marketing, told RugNews.com. At the same time, she says buyers will want a glimpse at the color and design stories the company will be highlighting at next month's High Point Market.

A display illustrating Oriental Weavers' cross coordination of design and weave for rugs in open plan spaces includes the Pandora 47H medallion rug on the wall with accent rugs in rolls and on the floor from the Atlas collection.

What's more, woven throughout the company's IHFC showroom will be fresh examples of Oriental Weavers' compatibility initiative, a program created to help retail partners and consumers coordinate rugs of compatible colors -- but in varying textures, patterns and styles - to easily create a designer look throughout the home.

"As homes are moving to a more open concept with living and dining areas being in one large space, we like to showcase collections that coordinate together, both color- and design-wise," Shook explained.

At the summer 2018 Las Vegas Market, for example, an OW display coordinated a traditional distressed medallion rug from the globally-inspired Pandora collection with textural rugs from its Atlas range. Pandora, machine-woven of space-dyed polypropylene, blends luxurious comfort with a super-soft hand, and uses fashion colors to infuse traditional classics with an updated look. The Atlas rugs in this vignette were machine-woven of a nylon-polypropylene blend in a mixture of lustrous and matte yarns that create simplified textures in tonal shades.

NEW YORK MARKET INTROS

Oriental Weavers introduces the plush, textured high-pile Carson collection, domestically made, to New York buyers.

The machine-woven Carson collection, for example, will be shown in New York and features a soft, textured high-pile construction which is popular among area rug buyers. Machine-woven in the U.S., the range features a simple and essential design aesthetic with matte pigmented colors and simple modern patterns. With a soothing palette that includes mid-tones of silver ash, soft pewter, steel blue, foam blue, golden yellow, reddened brown and pumpkin latte, Carson is illustrative of the trend-forward color stories OW is known for.

HEADING TO HIGH POINT

Raleigh Collection

Oriental Weavers debuts this modern organic update of a traditional classic in its machine-woven Raleigh collection at the fall High Point Market.

Among the line extensions buyers will look forward to are several additions to the popular Raleigh collection set for High Point introduction. The six new designs range from center medallion patterns with clean solid grounds, to sophisticated Ikats, all in fashion colors. Raleigh, which is machine-woven in Egypt, is a soft, high-density construction featuring tri-color yarn. Buyers will find classic neutrals like deep navy, warm grays and soft ivory alongside trend-forward accent colors of smoky teal and blush. Retail for the 5'3" x 7'6" is $299.

Sedona Collection

A line extension of Oriental Weavers' Sedona collection, machine-woven in the U.S., features an organic abstract motif for High Point shoppers.

A space-dyed yarn in a blend of nylon and polypropylene creates the energetic hues that distinguish the eight new designs debuting in Oriental Weavers' Sedona collection, which is machine woven in the U.S. Here the design focus is on updated Persian traditional styling with a Bohemian edge, as well as organic abstract looks in a palette of deep midnight teal, rich saffron gold and bright carnelian. Retail for the 5'3" x 7'6" is $299.
