PORT WASHINGTON, NY - Safavieh will add decorative throws to its rapidly expanding home accent products portfolio at the New York Home Fashions Market, September 15-18, 2014. The introductory collection will be presented in addition to 250 new rug and pillow designs at the company's showroom at 902 Broadway in New York City.
Part of a comprehensive line of knotted and woven throws scheduled for rollout at High Point and winter markets, the first collection includes a series of 50-inch by 60-inch faux fur throws retailing from $170 to $225. All designs are made in India of acrylic faux fur in a range of textures and colorways including fox, shadow fox, black mink, raccoon, beaver and sheepskin.
"The decision to enter the throw category with faux fur was based on the success of our accent pillow in coordinating fabrics. It's a natural extension for us: Faux fur, sheepskin and cowhide are extremely popular because they work so well with every new home decorating trend from Hollywood glamour to rustic chic and California casual," said Tiffany Yaraghi, Safavieh's director of textile product development.

At the New York market, Safavieh will also showcase a new Jacquard weave indoor-outdoor rug collection called Havana. Fifteen designs combining box stitch and loop pile for unique textural interest with multi-color rainbow motifs against cream grounds. Machine woven in Egypt of polypropylene, the collection retails for $160 in the 5x8 size.

The Jolie collection of cotton scatter and accent rugs with a new twisted braid look that creates a marbled effect and ruffled edges will be introduced in eight fashion colorways with white. Crafted in India, the rugs are offered in 2x3 at a retail of $36. Additional sizes include 4x6 and 5x8.
In August, Safavieh announced a major pillow launch of 80 new designs to debut at the NY Home Fashions market. The introduction includes a higher end line with new embellishments, more expensive fabrics and feather and down fills, with retails of $120 to $250 for a set of two pillows. Size offerings have also been increased with most designs now offered in three sizes: 18"x18", 20"x20" and either 22"x22" or 12"x20".
