JAIPUR LAUNCHES NATIONAL GEOGRAPHIC HOME WITH RETAILER "TRAVEL PHOTOS"

Customers acted out their travel fantasies at the National Geographic Home launch at Jaipur Rugs' High Point showroom this week, at fun photo booths with props to complement images from the organizations vast archives.

HIGH POINT, NC - Retailers entering the Jaipur Rugs showroom at High Point Market were greeted with a photo booth for impromptu personal photos that were taken with stuffed wild animals and dramatic images from the National Geographic Magazine photography archives as backdrops.  Fun props were also available from safari hats to sunglasses, goatees and more.  Adventurers from designers to big box retailers joined the festivities, showing their spirited creativity and "vogueing" capabilities, all of which can be seen on Jaipur's Facebook and Instagram pages.

Hand tufted of pure wool (5x8, $469), the big cats rugs bring awareness to the plight of these felines and the need to preserve them.

The vast source of imagery in the National Geographic archives also served as inspiration for the beautiful line, said representatives of both companies.  At a press breakfast on Monday, April 20, Elisa Andruzzi, design manager for Jaipur explained the inspiration behind the new product line, which includes National Geographic home rugs, pillows and poufs.

The influence of birds and feathers is evident in the National Geographic Home Collection.

The collection is divided into four themes, one inspired by National Geographic's Big Cat initiative, which has a mission to protect endangered and threatened wild cats and their habitats. "We thought that would be a great thing to highlight as a story and saw a big opportunity to include more animal print in our assortment," Andruzzi said.

Rugs inspired by big cats, fossils, microscopic organisms and more create fashion statements in silvery grey.

Another story featured aerial views of National Geographic art, including birds in flight, a train station and perspectives of animals in fields from flight-seeing tours.  Another trend story called Microscopic plays with single-cell organisms viewed from microscopes fossil finds and plant cells.

Already shown in pre-market teasers, designs from the Feathers series are interpretations of wild bird plumage and even a rug based on the peacock feather.

Products from each of the National Graphic Home themes mix and match for full room coordination.

Elizabeth Levy, senior manager of licensing for National Geographic, explained that every sale of National Geographic Home products from Jaipur help preserve wild spaces worldwide.

“Getting involved with Jaipur and making these beautiful products is to support our important causes,” she said.
