COURISTAN ANNOUNCES NEW NYC SHOWROOM & RETURN TO HIGH POINT MARKET

Couristan relocates to a permanent showroom at 230 Fifth Ave. in time for the fall New York Home Fashions Market, and unveils a new Showplace showroom (2350) in High Point in October.

NEW YORK -- Couristan has relocated to a new 10th floor showroom, Suite 1010 of 230 Fifth Ave. for the upcoming New York Home Fashions Market, Sept. 11-14, and also announced a return to High Point Market this fall.

"New York Home Fashions Week and High Point Market have become meaningful destinations for mass merchants, the design community, and furniture and e-commerce accounts," Larry Mahurter, vice president of marketing and advertising, told RugNews.com in an exclusive interview.

"It's important for us to reconnect with our customers at these venues as we bring new and innovative products to the market and to establish programs with our key accounts moving forward. Both markets enable us to see clients that perhaps are not attending Las Vegas and Atlanta. We look forward to growth in our business with our clients in both venues."

Couristan focuses on medium to promotionally priced product at the upcoming NY Home Fashions Market. Shown, a Calinda collection design.

For New York shoppers, Couristan's new showroom in Suite 1010 offers the company 2,000 square feet to display its assortment. Prior to the relocation, Couristan shared a space with Park B. Smith, Ltd. on the 18th floor. "The new space allows us to show more product in the promotional to medium price points," Mahurter added.

Couristan will show additions to its best-selling The Sultan Treasures collection in both New York and High Point.

BACK TO HIGH POINT

The Fort Lee, New Jersey-based company also announced its return to High Point Market, a show it exited nine years ago. Located in the Showplace Building, Showroom 2350, Couristan will be renovating the new 5,000 square feet space and anticipates a soft opening for the mid-October design event.

The new Gypsy collection introduces a contemporary abstract art look for Couristan.

"High Point has become the destination place for big box operations and furniture stores. This showroom provides us the opportunity to see our East Coast accounts and penetrate the interior design community," noted Mahurter. "We will be showing both are our carpeting and area rug assortment, with rugs shown in 8x11 and 5x8 sizes, including a number of new polypropylene as well outdoor introductions."
