NEW YORK -- ICFF will debut 10 new area rug exhibitors, bringing the total number of area rug participants to some 33 at the upcoming international furnishings fair, running from May 19-22.
The four-day event at the Jacob Javits Center will feature more than 900 exhibitors and attract close to 40,000 attendees from the design industry. And area rug makers continue to line up to take part in the popular fair.
Newcomers include a mix of fledgling domestic and international companies and established high-end rug brands and designers and showrooms looking to expand their franchises. These include Art Hide, Awanay, Eye Heart Hand, Illulian, Inigo Elizalde Rugs, Landry & Arcari, Linie Design, Michelle Dirske, Norki, and Woop Rugs.
Below we introduce the newcomers, a range of domestic and international players, many of whom are debuting their brand not only at ICFF but also in the U.S.:
ART HIDE

Aussie studio Art Hide showcases its Selva geometric patchwork cowhide and viscose rug.
Art Hide, an Australian maker of hide area rugs, introduces ICFF attendees to its contemporary hide rugs. The company presents its new Selva rug that blends a mix of naturally colored premium cowhide with tonally dyed high-quality viscose.
AWANAY

Argentinian based studio Awanay is a fair trade, community focused business where weavers work from their homes. Shown, Margaritas
Rug design studio Awanay, based in Buenos Aires sources one of a kind hand-made rugs worldwide. It follows what it calls a "modern organic philosophy" and offers 100 percent naturally handmade, fair trade, community made pieces.
The company was founded in 2012 by mother and daughter team, Silvia and Rocio Noya, and now works with more than 100 families in northern Argentina.The weavers weave from their homes and wool is sourced from sheep and llama farms of the remote Dry Forest and La Puna regions.
EYE HEART HAND

Bridgeport, Connecticut, studio Eye Heart Hand, founded in 2017, debuts its sustainable contemporary area rugs and furnishings. Co-founder and designer Kate D. Spain told RugNews.com, "Our hand-numbered and hand-signed rugs celebrate extraordinary design --the eye of the designer; pure New Zealand wool from a single sustainable family farm in the mountains of New Zealand -- the heart of the land; and ethical craftsmanship by GoodWeave --certified artisans in India -- the artisan's hand. Even the origin of the wool in Eye Heart Hand rugs is verified by Oritain using forensic science.

Italian bespoke rug atelier Illulian debuts its luxe wool and silk creations at ICFF. Shown, Matches from the Design collection
Milanese bespoke area rug atelier Illulian debuts its fine wool and silk rugs at ICFF. The 60 year old rug maker will feature designs from its Design collection of modern looks that reflect contemporary trends. Rugs are crafted premium wool and silk with vegetable colors.
INIGO ELIZALDE RUGS

New York designer Inigo Elizalde debuts its sumptuous 200 knot Nepalese hand-knotted Nido collection.
NYC rug and textile designer Inigo Elizalde, who recently participated in the AD Design Show here, debuts at ICFF showcasing his new Nido collection. These luxe designs are 200 knot Nepalese hand-knotted area rugs crafted of Tibetan highland wool and bamboo fiber. They contain 12 different colors of yarn. Nido also includes designs crafted in a handwoven flatweave construction of dyed abaca.
LANDRY & ARCARI

Boston showroom Landry & Arcari introduces ICFF shoppers to its rug assortment, including this colorful flatweave.
Boston-area showroom Landry & Arcari, which has three Massachusetts locations, is spreading its wings and introducing ICFF designers and buyers to its latest area rug assortment. The company also represents the Jaipur-based luxury rug brand Tissage and will showcase new styles from that rug maker at the four day event as well.
LINIE DESIGN

Danish hand-made rug specialist Linie Design's Scandanvian inspired designs debuts at ICFF with its Matches design from Selected collection.
Linie Design, a 40 year old Danish wholesaler and developer of handmade rugs, works with Scandinavian designers to create its contemporaarea rugs, which are handmade by Indian master artisans. Designs feature a modern, Nordic look.
MICHELLE DIRKSE

Designer Michelle Dirske introduces ICFF audiences to her Midnight Oracle rug deigned in collaboration with Jennifer Guthier.
Seattle-based interior designer Michelle Dirkse debuts her line of wallpaper, fabric, home accessoris and area rugs at the 2019 ICFF. Collaborating with nine Pacific Northwest artists, her latest collection includes the hand-knotted Midnight Oracle rug, in collaboration with Jennifer Guthier. The 100 knot count rug is crafted of himalayan wool and bamboo silk in Nepal.
NORKI

French hide and fur furnishings purveyor Norki heads to the U.S. Above it's sheep skin rug graces the floor of a Swiss Alps chalet.
Home furnishings and rug maker Norki, based in eastern France, brings its hide and fur clad furniture, accents and area rugs to ICFF for the first time. In fact, the debut is the company's inaugural foray into the U.S. market.
WOOP RUGS

Woop Rugs introduces U.S. audiences to its custom capabilities including its wool Materia collection, made in Spain.
Woop Rugs, a new label by Spanish Novadecor Group, offers designers customizable collections made in Spain. On show will be the plush Materia range, crafted of New Zeland wool and includes five designs and 20 color options.
