ACTRESS GWYNETH PALTROW'S GOOP BRAND TEAMS WITH CB2 ON CROSS-CATEGORY HOME COLLECTION

Debuting in the inaugural Goop x CB2 collection, the digitally printed Chinoiserie wool area rug is inspired by motifs Gwyneth Paltrow saw on wallpaper and fabrics while living in England.

CHICAGO -- The 17-store CB2 chain has teamed with actress Gwyneth Paltrow's lifestyle company, Goop, on a collection of home furnishings including upholstery, tabletop, linens, furniture, accents, lighting and area rugs.

CB2, the sister brand of Crate & Barrel, is known for its young modern aesthetic. The new 60-piece Goop x CB2 collection is featured on the cover of the retailer's September 2018 catalog and on its opening spreads. Designed by Paltrow's Goop team, the furnishings are available in stores, online and through the catalog.

The inaugural collection includes two area rugs: Chinoiserie of 100 percent wool pile, and Darjeeling, a handwoven flatweave in a wool and cotton blend. Both rugs are made in India.

The Goop x CB2 Chinoiserie rug is digitally printed with a traditional chinoiserie of birds and butterflies for a soft, feminine effect. A deep, dramatic navy backdrop keeps the whole thing from feeling too precious. Inspired by Gwyneth Paltrow's time living in England, where chinoiserie is common on wallpapers and tapestries. "To me, the motif represents a very homey feeling, which I've never seen on a rug before. It was really fun to transpose it off the wall and onto the floor," Paltrow notes. The 8x10 retails at $999.

The Goop x CB2 represents a classic modern simplicity in keeping with the clean modern vibe of both brands.

Darjeeling features horizontal ivory stripes in three vertical columns across a light grey base. This flatweave rug by Goop is made in a mix of New Zealand and Indian wool which is handwoven on a pit loom by skilled artisans in Panipat, India. An 8x10 retails at $699.
