SURYA TEAMS UP TO 'MARCH FOR BABIES'

CALHOUN, Ga. – Surya employees, friends and family members will participate in the 2016 March for Babies, an annual walk scheduled to take place at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 6, in Cartersville, Ga. Sponsored by the March of Dimes, the March for Babies program was created to support moms in having healthy, full-term pregnancies while also raising awareness of premature birth, and generating funds to research causes and preventions.

Premature birth is the leading cause of infant death in the United States, where one in ten babies enters the world too soon. Babies who survive an early birth may experience lifelong health problems such as cerebral palsy, vision and hearing loss, and learning disabilities. According to physicians, at least 50 percent of premature births are preventable if a woman receives prenatal care.

"At Surya, we are dedicated to furthering the well-being of children and their families," said Satya Tiwari, president, Surya. "Through our Miles for Meals initiative, we've seen firsthand the powerful difference that can be made when communities come together for a common cause. As a new father of healthy twin boys, I know how crucial prenatal care is for a healthy mother and child. We're excited to participate in this important event and help to create a better future for Georgia families."

An estimated 500 March for Babies events will be held throughout the U.S. this year, with three million people expected to walk together for stronger, healthier babies. The leading nonprofit organization for maternal and infant health, the March of Dimes has worked for more than 75 years to help babies get a healthy start in life.

Donations to Surya's March for Babies campaign are tax deductible and can be made online through May 6 via the following link: http://tiny.cc/SURYA-MARCH-FOR-BABIES
