09252015 NY Home Fashions Market Fall Rug Preview

9/25/2015

NEW YORK - New York Home Fashions Market ushers in exciting new product launches, line extensions into new categories and showroom expansions. Buyers from big box stores to mass merchandisers have already scheduled appointments with key vendors, and word is out that several heavy hitters opted to screen new lines at the end of next week after the market officially closes.

Couristan is making news as a first time exhibitor through an arrangement to display at the showroom of venerable soft goods supplier, Park B. Smith. Loloi will unveil a showroom that is three times larger than its previous space, making room for growth in pillows, throws and new categories of rugs.

Buyers will be treated to previews of new licensed collections and expanded ones. United Weavers has just signed with Panama Jack, for example, and Creative Home is vastly expanding its Laura Ashley line of accent and area rugs. KAS Rugs will be previewing a new machine made line from Bob Mackie Home which debuts at High Point next month, and Bacova Guild is expanding its Jessica Simpson collection.

Time-enduring patterns and crafts remain directional, but innovative techniques and technologies have expanded the possibilities for the latest crop of rug introductions. So while traditional designs continue to be re-cast with distressed looks and texture, popular blue and grey color stories get tweaked and some unexpected bold colors begin to surface.

Here is a glimpse of what rug makers will be showcasing during New York Home Fashion Week, Sept. 28 to Oct. 1, 2015.  New York City addresses are listed for each company.

Couristan

At its first New York Home Fashions Market, Couristan will debut with popular collections like the Easton Wilton weave line.

Couristan will exhibit for the first time at the New York Home Fashions Market through an arrangement with Park B. Smith, Ltd., at whose showroom the rug make will present its award-winning indoor-outdoor rug collections and most recognizable fashion-valued lines such as Everest, Easton, Marina and Moonwalk.

"With buyers seeing both the New York Market Center building and New York Fashions Market as destinations where trends emerge for home furnishings and textiles, we felt it was extremely important for the Couristan brand to have a presence within both," stated Ron Couri, President and CEO of Couristan.

The Easton collection, a face-to-face Wilton weave line from Couristan, is crafted of heat-set Courtron ultra-fine polypropylene using a multi-point and loom-carved technique.  The rugs have a luxurious finish with over a million points of yarn per square meter, $299.

The hand-hooked indoor-outdoor Beachfront collection by Couristan offers coveted textural interest.

Couristan will feature outdoor themed novelty motifs in the Beachfront collection hand-hooked of fiber-enhanced Courtron polypropylene. The rugs are water-, mold- and mildew-resistant and are increasingly used indoors, $299. Couristan at Park B. Smith, Ltd., 230 Fifth Avenue, Suite 1818, 18th floor.

Dynamic Rugs

Dynamic Rugs will debut the Kingston collection at New York Market.

Dynamic Rugs raises the fashion bar with four brand new collections, Kingston, Studio, Beluchi and Quartz, and will also present five recently introduced collections at the New York market. Kingston uses innovative construction techniques to create sophisticated designs mixing polypropylene with viscose accents.  Machine made in Turkey, the collection gives the high sheen of a viscose rug with the durability and feel of a classic heat set product. Designs rug the gamut from abstracts to distressed traditionals, and Kingston retails at $10.50 per square foot.

Beluchi is machine crafted of viscose to give the illusion of hand knotted antique rugs, but in a vibrant new range of colors. The collection is made in Belgium and premieres with two designs and four colorways at $10 per square foot MSRP.

The new Quartz collection debuts in six patterns and 10 colorways, also at $10 a foot MSRP. The rich looking rugs combine chenille and viscose throughout the rug for texture with shimmering accents, and a tonal color palette plays up patterns from abstracts to traditional motifs.

Dynamic Rugs adds four patterns and 13 colorways to the Regal collection, which is machine made in Belgium of viscose.  The Ancient Garden collection gets expanded with four new patterns in 12 colorways, bringing a hand-knotted look to a machine made construction.

A new design from the Vogue collection offers a contemporary look in viscose and wool.

The Vogue collection has three new designs in a blend of viscose and wool. Hand-tufted in India, the fashion forward collection retails at $18 a foot, MSRP. Dynamic Rugs, 295 Fifth Ave., Room 1018, 212.679.3924. dynamicrugs.com
