DUBAI--Adding to the luxury shopping experience at The Dubai Mall, high-end Beirut-based rug retailer Iwan Maktabi opened here last week with an event co-hosted by the Maktabi family and Cyril Zammit, fair director of Design Days Dubai. German carpet designer Jan Kath was guest of honor.

In the spotlight on opening night was an exhibition of Jan Kath's designs throughout the store, including pieces from his award-winning collections Erased Heritage, Erased Classics, Radi and Lost Weave. The Dubai Mall store represents the expansion of the Maktabi brand from Lebanon to the United Arab Emirate. "What a marvelous occasion this is, to bring together Dubai's design community under our roof to welcome the Maktabi name and essence to this great city," said Mohamed Maktabi, principal of Iwan Maktabi, in a presentation to guests attending the event.

An exhibition of Jan Kath Rugs, which are sold internationally through partnerships with prestigious retailers and designer showrooms, were exhibited at the opening of Iwan Maktabi in The Dubai Mall.

Recognized as a premier high end retailer of antique and decorative carpets, Iwan Maktabi's collections include renowned designers such as Houssein Rezvani  in addition to Jan Kath. The new rug haven in Dubai will feature mostly contemporary and designer carpet collections, and will showcase Iwan Maktabi collections along with other award-winning lines.

The new Iwan Maktabi location will also be represented in this year's Design Days Dubai, Mar. 14-Mar. 18, 2016.
