He had a long, outstanding career in both the carpet and area rug industries, starting straight out of college at Evans & Black Carpet Mills, and eventually joining Queen Carpet, which at the time was an upstart broadloom manufacturer.
Minter found his true passion in the area rug business, and worked over the years for Momeni, Radici, Vantage and most recently for Oriental Weavers.
"Jim recently retired after more than 20 years of service at OW. He was a well-respected legend in the rug industry, a great mentor and friend who was known to live life to the fullest and always left you with a smile," said his longtime friend and business associate, Jonathan Witt, senior vice president, Oriental Weavers.
Survivors include a son, Josh (Skyler), granddaughter, Laken, two brothers, cousins, and many close friends.
A celebration of life will be held on Jim's birthday, November 18th at The Caravelle Resort, in Myrtle Beach, SC at 5:00 pm.
"Jim served our country during the Vietnam War and the Special Operations Wounded Warriors (SOWW) charity's work held a special place in Jim's heart," Witt explained.
