WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - Michel "Mickey" V. Morren, a 50-year veteran of the rug industry, passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2016, at Robert Wood University Hospital, New Brunswick, NJ.  He was 85.

Prior to retiring in 2004, he was a salesman in the rug industry for 50 years, and was associated with Beaulieu, Kaleen, and Dalyn Rug Company.

Born in New York, NY, Morren resided in Bronx, NY, and Fort Lee and Teaneck, NJ, before moving to West Windsor, N. J 14 years ago. His son Alan, who worked with him for many years, expressed what he learned from his dad: "It was an honor to call Mickey my dad.  I was very fortunate to have worked alongside him for 17 years.  Not only did he teach me the skill sets to be successful but to have fun doing it at the same time. The most important thing he taught me about sales was that the foundation of a good relationship starts with building trust and doing the right thing for your customers.

"This was evident by the number of longtime friendships he made during his 50 years in the industry.  It would always bring a smile to my face when, years after he retired, so many people I'd run into would ask, 'How's Mickey?'

"Despite his passing, I continue to feel his influence.  I am proud of what he meant to our business professionally. I am proud of how he led our family.  Perhaps best of all, Dad was simply a great guy in the most genuine of ways."

According to David Adams, CEO of Dalyn Rug Company, "Mickey was a key member of the Dalyn sales team for many years. His professionalism, work ethic, and experience, combined with a genuine compassion for his customers, led to many, many deep relationships in the industry.  As with the saying, 'the apple doesn't fall far from the tree,' Mickey's son Alan continues his father's legacy as an outstanding person and salesman for our company.  We all were truly blessed to call Mickey a friend and will miss him very much."

Mr. Morren was a congregant of the Sephardic Jewish Center of Forest Hills, NY.

A United States Air Force veteran, he served during the Korean Conflict, from 1951 to 1955.

Surviving are his wife of 58 years, Doris Hasson Morren; his sons, Victor Morren of Newington, CT, and Alan Morren and his wife, Joanne, of Spotswood, NJ; three grandchildren, Alexandra, Ethan and Jacob; and cousins, Margie Hurwitz of Teaneck, NJ, and Elise Sosenko of Woodmere, NY.
