ALLENTOWN, Penn. -- Longtime floor covering industry sales executive John S. McGeary III, 57, died at home here on February 27, 2019.
John worked in the flooring and construction industries for more than 30 years. He joined Mohawk Home in 2012 handling area rugs and roll runner sales for the Karastan and American Rug Craftsmen brands, and most recently was promoted to territory manager for Mohawk Specialty Sales.
McGeary previously worked for Shaw Industries for 10 years, holding several territory manager positions, and handling the Patcraft Commercial Line for Shaw in Northeastern Pennsylvania. From 1981 through 1990, he installed both carpet and hard surface flooring for many of the best flooring retailers in Delaware County Main Line Area.
Born in Philadelphia, McGeary was the son of the late John S. McGeary, Jr. and Ann (McDevitt) McGeary. He is a graduate of Cardinal O'Hara High School and Delaware Community College. John was an active member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Allentown.
He is survived by his wife Annie (Kelly) of 29 years and his children John, Brendan and Madelyn. Other survivors are his brother Kevin McGeary (Katie); sisters Veronica McCarty (Mark) and Kathleen LaBricciosa (Sal); Parents-in-law Charles and JoAnn Kelly; brother-in-law Charlie Kelly (Jen); sister-in-law Karen Kuczynski (Chuck) and his nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by his brother Brian and a niece Karlee.
Services: A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, March 7, 2019 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 1040 Flexer Ave., Allentown. Calling hours will be held from 4 to 8 p.m., on Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at J.S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 16th & Hamilton Streets., Allentown, www.jsburkholder.com and from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 7, 2019 in the church.
