OBEETEE ROLLS OUT BROADLOOM LINE; DEBUTS FURNITURE BRAND AT NEW YORK HOME FASHIONS MARKET


During New York Home Fashions Market, Obeetee showcased its growing assortment of handmade  broadlooms; and a new furniture brand, Manor & Mews.

NEW YORK -- In addition to showing off the company's spacious new New York City showroom during New York Home Fashions Market, rug maker Obeetee unveiled its expansion not only into the handmade broadloom category but into the furniture segment as well with the launch of a new sister company called Manor & Mews.

The inaugural Obeetee broadloom line, which garnered a wall rack display in the airy top-floor loft, is handmade in India, as are the company's area rugs, and was a focus of the NY Home Fashions Market, running from Sept. 19-22, 2016, according to Katherine Walters, national sales manager of Obeetee. A wide variety of broadloom styles using materials including wool, jute, viscose, cotton are available, with the collection targeting both the residential and commercial segments.


Obeetee's new designer broadloom range will be hand loomed and hand tufted in India for residential and commercial use.

GROWS PRODUCT LINEUP

Also on display throughout Obeetee's new 6,500 square foot showroom, located at 137-139 W. 25 St., was the company's foray into the furniture segment under the Manor & Mews label, headed by London-based furniture designer and cabinetmaker David Salmon. 
 
Salmon brings his extensive experience in the British furniture design industry to play in Manor & Mews, having worked with English Heritage and the National Trust, and served as a board director of the British Furniture Manufacturers' Association.

The new brand features four inaugural collections (Lyndhurst, Treowen, Harlington and Burton), incorporating upholstered seating, dining and occasional tables, chairs, and storage pieces. Crafted in India, using sustainable wood whenever possible, the line makes use of carefully managed acacia shade trees from tea estates owned by Luxmi Group, the parent company which includes Obeetee and Manor & Mews.

In addition, he has created museum-quality furniture for the Royal Palace at The Hague, the Supreme Court of the United States, Arab heads of state, embassies in the U.K., and royal households around the world. Since the opening of his first showroom on the Kings Road, London, in 1989, he has been creating bespoke furniture via David Salmon Furniture. Since 2002 David has been a main board director of the British Furniture Manufacturers' Association, which represents the industry to the marketplace, government and suppliers.
