San Diego - Houchang "Michael" Mikaeli, who founded the Golden Rugs
Gallery in 1992, is retiring after 47 years in the rug business. But
southern California customers of this long-time gallery need not worry -
Michael's son, Jason, is taking over the business, continuing a legacy
that extends over three generations. Father and son have worked side by
side over the years, offering a comprehensive assortment of fine rugs in
multiple weaves and styles.

As the family patriarch, Mikaeli has devoted much of his life to the rug
industry; along the way he has educated his son and daughters about the
business. Besides dealing in rugs, the Mikaeli family has expertise in
cleaning and repairing, appraising rugs and educating clients about a
rug's pedigree and origin.
"It's important that clients understand the levels of workmanship as
well as how rugs differ from one region of the world to another in both
quality and design," Mikaeli said. "We feel it is essential to inform
our clients about various rugs when they make their purchase, because
the more informed the client, the easier it will be to find the right
rug for their needs."
Golden Rugs Gallery is known for its extensive variety of quality area
rugs, covering a range of design aspects including contemporary and
decorative.
Jason Mikaeli will take over the business at a new location - 7190
Miramar Road, suite 101-105, just down the road from the previous
location, which saw its lease expire.
