NEW YORK -- The Oriental Rug Importers Association has received a donation of $50,000 for its Charitable Fund Benefitting Children. The donation was made by Ali and Teresa Nejad, principals of Nejad Rugs, Doylestown, PA.

The presentation was made Sept. 14 at ORIA's Fall general membership meeting in New York City.

The check was the largest single donation ever received by the Charitable Fund, according to Lucille Laufer, executive director of ORIA. The Charitable Fund supports the needs of children around the globe, helping to improve the health, welfare and economic status of needy children and families in the major carpet weaving districts worldwide. The Fund also provides specific emergency relief efforts where needed.

"This industry has given us so much," said Ali Nejad, president of Nejad Rugs. "This is our way to give back, in part, all of the benefits we have received over the years."
