SHORE RUGS WINS ICFF EDITORS' AWARD FOR MOST INNOVATIVE MATERIAL

NEW YORK -- London-based Shore Rugs founders Louie Rigano and Gil Muller earned another prestigious award for their unique comfort mats, this time the 2017 ICFF Editors' Award for Material Innovation, presented at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair on May 22.

Shore, which debuted at ICFF last year, emerged as a young superstar garnering two 2016 awards - the NYCxDesign award for commercial flooring, and the Best of Show in the flooring category by IFDA Selects (read full story).

Shore comfort and wellness mats are hand woven of 100 percent silicone material that feels like a gel shoe insert and is designed to release leg strain and fatigue normally caused by standing on hard surfaces for long periods. The designs are made using thick 12-mm cords, hand woven in traditional techniques. Since silicone has no fibers, the rug is hypoallergenic and completely waterproof, for easy cleanup.
  
2017 ICFF Editors' Awards judges, a committee of five leading design industry media, scoured the show floor to discover the designers and products that represented the best of global design at ICFF NYC. The awards were announced at the end of day one on the ICFF Stage with the judging committee personally presenting each winning brands its coveted award.
