ZOLLANVARI DEBUTS AT MAISON & OBJET AMERICAS 2016

Zollanvari's acclaimed Gabbeh collection, available in the U.S. now that the U.S. sanctions against Iranian-made carpets have been lifted, will premiere at Maison & Objet in Miami.  Shown is Tiles from the Gabbehs Abstract collection.

MIAMI -- Zollanvari will participate for the first time at Maison & Objet Americas, Miami Beach, Florida that runs from May 10 -13, 2016 at the Miami Beach Convention Center.  At its stand in Hall CD (Booth 432 /531), the company will unveil its full range of tribal and traditional carpets made in Iran, which have not been sold in the U.S. since the U.S. embargo against the importation of Iranian products was put into effect in 2010.

Attendees at the Miami show will see that in the past six years Zollanvari as transformed the color palette and designs of its internationally acclaimed Gabbeh collections, which have been very popular in Europe and were a hit with high-end rug dealers at last month's Rug Show in L.A.

A Gabbeh is a pile rug traditionally used as bedding and characterized by an abstract design that relies on playful geometry.  Zollanvari's latest Gabbeh creations to be seen at Miami include:

Quilt Crazy from the Abstract Gabbehs collection: an American quilt design rendered in Persian style using the finest highland wools from the Zagros Mountains in a Kashkuli quality. Named after one of the Ghashghai' nomadic tribes living in the Fars province, southeast and northwest of Shiraz, this line features abstract modern designs based on classic Americana quilts with a touch of Persian style and zany colors.

In Tiles from the Gabbehs Abstract collection, traditional Gabbeh 'squares' are reinterpreted  in a modern palette with delicate vertical lines in varying colors giving an impression of a tiled roof. This line is also in a Kashkuli quality.

Zollanvari's Designer Isfahan collection on show transports traditional motifs (Vase, Jeziorak and Classical Garden) into the contemporary design world while adding a palette of modern shades that maintain the intrinsic quality and character of the Persian carpet.

Zollanvari will present Jeziorak from the Designer Isfahan collection (shown in blue and silver) at Maison & Objet Americas.

The company's Minimalist Kilims, a modern collection that draws inspiration from old and antique Mazandaran kilims, will also debut in the U.S. at Miami. Other new flatweaves will include Ikat and Vibrant Baneh.

When the embargo was put into effect in 2010 Zollanvari's product line in the U.S. was 100-percent Persian. As a result, during the past six years, Zollanvari has redefined and reinvented their inventory for the U.S. market by creating their Kundan Silk and Couture collections with award-winning new designs made in India using the highest quality silks.

On show in Miami will be several new designs from the Iridescence Skin collection made in the finest pure silk as well as new ikat and Islamic textile inspired carpets from the Kundan Diffusion Koti Silk collection. Woven with a blend of fibers specially selected by Zollanvari, these rugs are made from the cellulose pulp of bamboo, banana or other natural materials.

Prancing Peacocks from Zollanvari's hand-knotted in Rajasthan Kundan Silk collection is shown in the pure silk Diamond Quality.

Other new carpets from India include Prancing Peacocks, Dancing Dragon and Sufi. The carpets from the Kundan Silk collection are woven in Rajasthan. They are hand-knotted by skilled artisans and the subtle overdyeing of the carpets with translucent colors creates a unique multi-dimensional shimmering texture.

Zollanvari has not stopped pushing the boundaries of carpet weaving since the 2010 embargo, and has received recognition for Best Modern Design and three Best Innovation wins at the Carpet Design Awards, a Special Mention at the German Design Awards and an Interior Innovation Award at imm Cologne.

"We have restarted weaving larger room size carpets for the U.S. market and it will be great to see the new collections we have created in the past years decorating U.S. interiors again," said Reza Zollanvari in a recent interview.
