NEW YORK -- The New York Chapter of the International Furnishings and Design Association (IFDA NY) has launched an initiative to help the industry re-emerge and flourish in light of the economic downturn from the coronavirus.

IFDA NY has just formed a new 'Career Advancement Committee' that will be listing job openings and also hosting programs on job search and networking.

"Our diversity is our strength. IFDA members and our community extend across the whole spectrum of the design/furnishings industry, from designers and marketers to product manufacturers and media," said Rose Hittmeyer, IFDA NY administrator, who conceived of the new committee and is chairing it as well.

"Our Career Advancement Committee has never been more important," advised Andrea Warriner, IFDA NY Co-President, under whose tenure along with that of her Co-President David Santiago, the organization has seen its weekly Zoom webinars on a variety of topics become an industry staple. "At this juncture, it is more important than ever for us to work with one another to move the industry forward, one step at a time."

All Job Bulletin listings are free of charge and will be distributed upon receipt to IFDA members, with all inquiries directed to the hiring manager of the hiring company.

IFDA NY needs your help. If you have a relevant listing in the New York City area, please send to: ifdanyny@verizon.net. The listing needs to include: job title, description, qualifications and skills needed, what paperwork they will need to send you and location (NYC, Long Island, NJ and CT, etc.), company name, contact and email address (phone# if you wish to be contacted by phone). Full or part-time positions, freelance, a consulting job or an internship should be specified. Search firms are welcome to participate.

The International Furnishings and Design Association, founded in New York City in 1947 and now with 11 chapters worldwide, provides a professional forum for communication and interaction among its high-profile members. The IFDA, a not-for-profit volunteer-run association, also promotes career advancement and educational opportunities and is structured to increase public awareness of the furnishings and design industry through specialized programming, networking and service to the community.
