CHIGAGO -- Surya unveils its latest showroom located on the 6th floor of the Design Center at the Chicago Merchandise Mart in time to host attendees of Neocon, a commercial design event which runs from June 11-13.
The Surya showroom, Suite 619, includes just more than 5,000 square feet and provides a collaborative space for both residential and contract designers to work and source from a curated selection of Surya's fashion forward accessories.
The Chicago location is
one of seven planned Surya showrooms announced by Satya Tiwari, president of the Cartersville, Georgia company, last year.
In addition to the debuting Chicago location and the company's existing showrooms in Atlanta and Dallas, new showrooms will be located in Boston, Denver, Los Angeles, Miami, New York City and San Francisco.
"This is something we have been thinking about for many years," Tiwari said. "Now that we have the resources and the strategy, we are going full force. As the interior design business has evolved, design customers are expecting their resources to be more local. So we want to be close to them."
To celebrate the soft opening of the Design Center showroom, Surya is holding a CEU credit course on June 12 from 1:30 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. called The Guide to Area Rugs (0.1 CEU), which explores the history of area rugs from around the world. The discussion offers a comprehensive review of materials, fabrication and application practices that will enable participants to provide the best rug recommendations for clients,
