NEW YORK
- Tibetano Carpets will unveil the first licensed rugs featuring
proprietary patterns from Artistic Tile, a high-end tile and stone
company, at this week's International Contemporary Furniture Fair.
Tibetano will exhibit May 16 to 19 at ICFF booth #2240 at the Jacob K.
Javits Convention Center in New York.
Artistic
Tile, an importer, manufacturer and distributor of tile and stone, first
expanded its reach into soft home products in February 2015 with a
collection of silk hand-finished accent pillows also bearing some of its
most popular proprietary designs.

Shahram
Nazar, Tibetano's founder, quietly previewed a few of the Artistic Tile
rug designs to key clients in March at the 2015 Architectural Digest
Home Design Show in New York. "Reaction to our rugs with their tile
designs was very positive. Designers and architects liked the idea that
successful Artistic Tile patterns could be translated from hard surface
to luxury carpets with contrasting luster and pile achieving the
textural interest of the mosaics and carved stone," he told RugNews.com.
According
to Rebecca Nazar, an owner of Tibetano, all rugs are Tibetan hand-knotteds
that are crafted in Nepal of wool and silk in cut and loop pile. "The
initial collection has more than 10 designs in multiple colorways, and
we are offering custom sizes and colors. Prices are on request," she
explained.

Artistic Tile's Canopy
design is carved from Carrara marble into a motif inspired by the
traditional art of wood blocking. In Tibetano Carpet's interpretation,
the arching branches are rendered in raised cut pile against a loop
ground to simulate the carved effect.

Among
other patterns in the collection are the transitional Bandeau, Bellezza,
Chrysanthemum, Largo and Yorkville, ranging in design from transitional
to Art Nouveau, and in colors from neutrals and pastels to jewel tones.
