TRISHA YEARWOOD'S ODE TO SOFT AND SUBTLE TAKES CENTER STAGE AT NATCO

HIGH POINT, N.C.  -- Singing the praises of soft, sumptuous textures, comfortable plush shags and subtle patterns and colors, country singer and celeb chef Trisha Yearwood personally walked customers through private line reviews at the launch of her premier rug collection for Natco at High Point Market on Saturday.

Stroking the texture and brushing the pile as if she'd been selling rugs for years, Yearwood told RugNews.com she is all about softness and comfort.  "I love the luxurious feel of soft texture underfoot, and I don't like a lot of pattern. My collection has a lot of pale blues and greys -- neutrals -- because I really love subtle colors," she said, adding, "the collection feels and looks luxurious; I am very proud of it."

Patrick Moyer, executive vice president of Natco, explained that the company met the designer's standards for softness with a new yarn system called Dream Step, which was developed especially for the collection.

Unlike so many celebrity licensors, Yearwood was intimately involved in the design process.  "Luckily, Tisha's home in Nashville is fairly close to our headquarters in Georgia, so I was able to take strikeoff samples to her to see and comment on every step of the way.  A couple of times she wanted to see the rugs in the daylight, and I have photos of her reviewing them on her driveway -- 65 rugs from one end of the drive up to the front door," he said.

Earlier this year during New York Home Fashions Market, Jim Thompson, vice president of sales and marketing for the Rhode Island-based Natco Home Fashions, told RugNews.com, that Natco plans to cross-merchandised rugs with other Trisha Yearwood branded home products created by licensees Imax Worldwide (decorative accessories) and Klaussner Home Furnishings (furniture) (read full story).
