VISUAL DISPLAY AWARDS FROM AMERICASMART FETE CREATIVITY FROM FIVE RUG COMPANIES

The new Petit Collage licensed rug collection unveiled by Jaipur at The Atlanta International Rug Market displayed the rugs with playthings from Petit Collage mixed with vintage toys.

ATLANTA - Five permanent rug showrooms, including Jaipur, Loloi, Surya, Karastan and ABC Industries were recipients of AmericasMart's semi-annual Visual Display Awards celebrating outstanding visual merchandising at The Atlanta International Area Rug Market, July 7 to 14, 2015. The judges, who are independent visual merchandising experts, selected winners based on several criteria, including compelling vignettes, staging of props, product presentations, lighting, window displays and signage. Click for a photo review of the winners receiving their awards and snapshots of their showrooms.

JAIPUR

Celebrating the company's Visual Display Award are Jaipur's Matt Peterson, David Glassman, Sarah Stockton, Divine Taylor and Asha Chaudhary with Karen Simmons Greaber of AmericasMart, and David Wise, RoseAnn Linder and Stephanie Brotherton of Jaipur.

Judges cited Jaipur's creative use of unexpected prop materials such as braided material, solo cups and yarn to give their windows the look of abstract art. Here natural materials complement the Native trend display of rugs.

LOLOI

Loloi's Barry Wasserman, Killian Hlava, Sandra Standefer, Michael Castell, Cameron Bagheri, Austin Craley, Tim Ward, Valerie Jacobs and John Thompson receive the company's Visual Merchandising Award from Kevin Malkiewicz of AmericasMart for the summer rug market in Atlanta.

While judges were impressed with Loloi's use of a vintage rickshaw to "hold an array of rugs and pillows overflowing with color and texture," the same creativity was evident in a display using colorful yarns in a display of the company's Nomad collection rugs.

SURYA

Surya was recognized with a Visual Merchandising Award at the July 2015 Atlanta market. From left: Alyssa Gagnon, designer & trend analyst, Surya; Karen Simmons Greaber, vice president - HOME Leasing Building 1, AmericasMart; Satya Tiwari, president, and designer Sofi Mitchell of Surya.

Judges liked the fun use of string art as a visual and decorative element as seen in the graphic above, creating an impactful entry with the use of citron color woven throughout the space for continuity, seen here in bed fashions and more.

KARASTAN

Matt Tollison, Karastan's VP Southeastern Region for Specialty Sales accepts the rug maker's Visual Merchandising Award from  Kevin Malkiewicz, AmericasMart's vice president of leasing for Home & Rug at the July 2015 Atlanta International Rug Market.

Karastan impressed judges with its use of antiques throughout the space as in this Victorian inspired setting, and natural materials to complement the subtle colors of its Mystic Garden limited edition rug (click here for story).
