Summer Market Preview Part 2
BUYERS WANT INNOVATION & FASHION, VENDORS RESPOND

ATLANTA-- RugNews.com's two-part Atlanta Market Preview Part 2 takes a look at what companies named M-Z are presenting to retailers, who said that they are counting on innovation and fashion to help drive sales.

SUMMER STANDOUTS

The standouts at the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market will be those products that allow retailers to tell a different story from their competitors. New constructions offer them fashionable designs but with an upgrade. From super stain resistant yarns, to innovative fiber techniques and uber-soft outdoor designs, rug vendors continue to push the envelope, offering buyers attractive prices plus some added features.

Transitional designs remain prominent with styles focusing on abstracted designs, including the popular painterly motifs. Shoppers will find everything from natural, earthy organic looks to modernized tribal motifs and the faded and erased styles, which might be in bleached out pastels or kicked up with a vivid pop of color.

WHAT BUYERS WANT

"For the Atlanta show, we will be looking for color and value. I like contemporary and like the idea of pops of colors: Things that will go great with the grey hues," said Sam Presnell of Cincinnati's The Rug Gallery. "I am a big believer in machine woven, and it seems consumers are too. Summer markets are usually not a lot of new, but there is always something you didn't like in January, that now you do."

In Part 1 Atlanta Market Preview, we talked with more retailers to find out what they are looking for in the rug category; and we reviewed the latest designs and advances being offered by rug makers whose names begin with A to L.
