ATLANTA -- Amer Rugs was honored with The America's Magnificent Carpet Award for its machine made Hamilton collection at a gala awards ceremony on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2019 during the Atlanta International Area Rug Market at AmericasMart.

Winning first place for machine made rugs retailing from up to $200 in a 5x8 size, the transitional design is woven in Turkey of high luster bamboo silk and durable polyester. Emulating high end hand-knotted silk rugs with a high low textural mosaic effect, the abstract design from Amer's Hamilton collection was created to provide fashion and value.

In accepting the award, Amer president, Raj Choudhary said the winning collection utilizes Amer's expertise in hand-knotted carpets, translating a look that resonates with consumers at the designer end of the market into an affordable machine-made line. "We expanded our machine-made offerings significantly in 2018, with five new collections, including Hamilton premiering at the fall High Point Market," Choudhary told RugNews.com.
"It seems that the industry is moving to machine-mades. We are Millennial-driven and Millennials are looking for the same colors, designs and textures they see at the designer level, but don't want to pay a lot for their rugs. So machine-mades have become more and more important to the industry and to Amer as well."
The Hamilton rug, winner of a 2018 America's Magnificent Carpets Award in the machine made category, features a high end abstract motif and textural mosaic effect.
