EXTREME TEXTURE GETS
THE NOD IN RUGS AT NY NOW

Nasrine Hamati, VP at S&H Rugs, shows off a rug of oxidized wool and oxidized silk with shaved pile creating an abstract pattern with pops of color.

NEW YORK - Texture went extreme with new explorations in weave, yarn and finishing on parade at three distinctively different rug companies exhibiting at the NY NOW show, August 15 to 19, 2015. S&H Rugs took upcycling to new couture stature with pile cut or shaved off to create textural drama. Nasiri is contrasting its popular designer flatweave lines with a new Nepal collection which is richly and innovatively textured.  And Fab Habitat introduced its first two higher-end collections at the show, one of them, Highland, in chunky weaves of jute or jute and wool blends (click

EXTREME TEXTURE

S&H Rugs

One of the more intriguing looks at the S&H Rugs exhibit, this hand-made multi-level sheared and distressed rug takes upcycling to couture status with high low texture and hits of tie-dye color.

Nasiri

Lush textures made an elegant statement in the new Nepal collection introduced by Nasiri (above) and on the wall behind company founder and creative director Nadir Nasiri. Made in Nepal the rugs combine wool, silk and hemp fibers.

Fab Habitat

The Highland collection launched at NY NOW by Fab Habitat offers the rugged, hand crafted texture important to show attendees on the hunt for artisanal decor in natural materials.
