TRANS-OCEAN WINS ICFA'S TOP AWARD FOR DESIGN EXCELLENCE IN OUTDOOR RUGS AND FLOORING

Designed by Liora Manne for Trans-Ocean, Akumal from the new Ravella collection has been awarded the International Casual Furniture Association's top honor in the outdoor rug category.

HIGH POINT -- Trans-Ocean has been awarded the 2016 Design Excellence Award in the outdoor rugs and flooring category by the International Casual Furniture Association (ICFA).  The winning rug, Ravella Akumal Ocean designed by Liora Manne for Trans-Ocean, will be on display at the rug maker's space in the Merchandise Mart during the Casual Market Chicago, Sept 20-23, 2016.

Part of Tran-Ocean's popular "Everywear" line which is suitable for indoor and outdoor use, the new Ravella collection is hand-tufted in a tight loop construction of 70 percent polypropylene/30 percent acrylic in China. Aptly named Akumal, which means "Place of the Turtle" in the Mayan language, the winning design features a subtle gradation of tones that belies the indoor-outdoor application of the rugs. MSRP for 5' x 7'6" is $425.00.

"The outdoor rug business is now all about fashion, color and pattern.  We allude to fashion apparel in the way we spell the name 'Everywear.'  It implies rugs that are stylish, easy-care, and easy to live with. You can 'wear' them everywhere, inside and outside the home," Liora Manne told RugNews.com.

Although she says fashion in outdoor rugs is constantly evolving, green is becoming more important and blues and 'turqs' are perennial favorites. "Warm colors are trending, especially combinations of camel and orange," she explained.
