SHANGHAI -- Domotex Asia ChinaFloor, the annual Shanghai-based event for the floor covering industry set records in terms of attendance and exhibitors during its run at the Shanghai New International Exhibition Center Marchh 25 to 27, 2014.
A total of 1,177 exhibitors took part in the show, with 253 coming from outside China. Nine country pavilions were featured: Afghanistan, Belgium, Germany, India, Iran, Netherlands, Pakistan, Turkey and the USA.
42,386 professional visitors made this year's event the biggest in its history. Of the total attendees, 31,598 came from China and 10,788 from 102 countries.
Next year's event, which will be held March 24 to 26, 2015, looks like another record, with 58.3% of the space already confirmed by the exhibitors at the just concluded show, an increase of 35.6% compared to the booths sales performance made onsite in 2013.
At Domotex Asia/ChinaFloor 2014, six green initiatives were officially cited by a jury of experts. The winners of GreenStep Asia Awards 2014 were: Flatten Bamboo Flooring by Dasso Industrial Group that won the Green Product category award; Sustainable manufacturing by Novalis Innovative Flooring which won the Green Process category award; and Weihai Shanhua Carpet Groupwhich was the Green Pinnacle category winner of the first edition of GreenStep Asia Awards. The three honorable mentions were assigned to Ecolink for Product, Mondo for Process and Forbo for Pinnacle.
Keeping pace with the industry trends, the show is also re-inventing itself every year, with nearly 500 special events, according to the show organizers.
Many showcase areas were installed throughout the show ground to give extra attention to specific categories and help visitors to better understand the products, such as the Handmade Carpet section where a Silent Auction and a Live Weaving Performance took place.
The preparations for the 17th edition has already begun. Domotex Asia/Chinafloor, March 24-26, 2015 in Shanghai will be the largest international flooring show in the Asia-Pacific region. The show is jointly organized by VNU Exhibitions Asia, Build Your Dream and Hannover Milano Fairs Shanghai, a subsidiary of Deutsche Messe.
