HIGH POINT - Part 2 of the RugNews High Point Fashion Preview continues our alphabetical listing of must-see rug showrooms at the semi-annual event to be held this year from October 17 to 22.  Traditional designs continue to be re-cast with distressed looks and texture, popular blue and grey color stories get tweaked and the bold colors that began to surface earlier this year now morph into an array of brilliant jewel tones and lustrous pearlized neutrals. Here is a glimpse of the exciting new product launches, line extensions and new showrooms market attendees will find as they source the latest fashion in area rugs.


Loloi


Loloi brings 10 new rug collections to High Point, and expands the popular jute and cotton Viera range from neutrals to rich colors like this deep ruby red and taupe design.


Loloi will introduce the Justina Blakeney licensed rug collection at High Point Market and will celebrate with a book signing for the designer's New York Times best-selling book, The New Bohemians from 3:30 to 5 p.m. on October 18. Read more here.

Two debuting Justina Blakeney collections include Fable, a flat-woven shag grouping made in India from a viscose-and-cotton blend and featuring rich colors and bright abstract designs, and Folklore, a hand-woven pile from a wool/polyester blend featuring subtle Moroccan influences punctuated with bold colors.

Loloi will introduce eight additional collections at market, including Elixir, a hand-knotted line crafted in India of viscose from bamboo and featuring distressed looks in both trendy and traditional styles; Garrett, a colorful indoor-outdoor collection made in China of polypropylene and constructed with a braided texture; and Isle, another machine-made polypropylene in-out all weather line from Turkey.

The Izmir collection mixes tribal patterns with distressed heirloom motifs in machine made rugs from Turkey in polypropylene and chenille. Also machine made in Turkey of polypropylene are Kingston, which features abstract shading, and Newport, an outdoor line in rich, bold hues.

Finally, Loloi introduces the hand-knotted Sandro made in India of viscose from bamboo, and Valor, a line that is hand-knotted in India in a blend of wool and viscose from bamboo. Loloi's annual market party featuring a live band, dancing, catered food and an open bar will begin at 5 p.m. on October 18th following the Justina Blakeney book signing. LR Resources


 The new Sobek collection from LR Resources is hand knotted in a wool and viscose blend in India. Retail for 5'6"x8'6" is $2,000.


Dalton-based LR Resources will introduce an expanded Naturals concept with additions to the company's jute and chenille interwoven lines, as well as the heavier 100% jute collections. "LR Resources was on the cutting edge of this concept a little over three years ago with the introduction of the first three Naturals collection area rugs offered in 5'x7'9" and 8x10 with a cotton secondary backing for stability of design. The Naturals collection is our franchise," says Mike Thompson, vice president - general manager, LR Resources.

At High Point the company will extend the "Naturals" line extended to over 20 design and color combinations.  The Elite collection, which uses the same construction concepts, will be shown in an exciting distressed look and a new woven designs.  LR is stepping into the world of hand knots that are as economical as they are versatile in a palette ranging from Sari colors to understated neutrals. The new hand-knotteds start at under $20 retail.  The Sobek collection is hand-knotted of viscose yarn and priced at less than $30 per square foot at retail. Read more here. Momeni


A melange of gemstone colors from amethyst to aquamarine are evoked in this Mykonos collection rug from Momeni which is machine made of polyester in Turkey.


Momeni will appeal to furniture store buyers and designers at High Point Market with five new collections, expansion of existing lines and popular one-of-a-kind offerings. The company has developed new wovens for today's consumer in fashion-forward color palettes and new yarn systems.

Launching at Market, the Artifact collection features an iconic tribal look with bold motifs machine made in Turkey in 100% polypropylene for easy care [$199]. The Juliet collection offers erased weave vintage-look Oriental motifs machine woven in Turkey in a blend of 80/20 polypropylene and viscose for sheen [$299].

Another vintage approach to Oriental designs, Mykonos is a trendy overdyed collection that breaks the traditional rules of style with brilliant colors such as orange, pink and aqua, and is machine-made in Turkey of 100% polyester with a retail of $349. The new Dakota zero-pile collection is inspired by ages-old geometric motifs from Turkish, Anatolian and Kurdish tribes. Crafted of polypropylene in a rustic textural hand, the rugs are machine made in Turkey in designs that complement traditional, contemporary and southwestern interiors. [$349].

New Moon


From New Moon, Ford is a 100-knot abstract mosaic design crafted of Tibetan wool, Chinese silk and natural nettle in tones of aquamarine, jade and pearl.


New Moon Rugs, based in Delaware, will be featuring its all natural rugs in High Point. New styles added to the Lodge collection, all woven of Tibetan wool, include the Navajo inspired LW50B in natural, and the updated African Kuba cloth motifs of the LW84A in ivory/brown, LW85A in natural rugs and Kalahari in tan/brown.

New Moon is also expanding its contemporary rugs by adding more atmospheric designs, crafted with a Tibetan wool background and motifs of shimmering pure silk or of a blend of wool, silk and nettle fibers, to its offering. Highlights include the all over pattern of Bali in Cobolt, the water-like Fiord and Shale patterns, the abrash, cosmos-inspired Patina in slate, and the abstract animal designs of Haze, Serpiente, and Tortoise Shell. Also on show are the all over treillage design of the Tibetan wool and Chinese silk Fret; Josephine, an updated all-over French Empire style of Chinese silk and wool tweeded with silk; the fractured Ikat-like Mowry in abalone; the whimsical floral and butterfly design of Papillon in amethyst, jewelry-inspired Plume in cocoa/gold, and graphic garden design of Trinidad in jade. Nourison


Nourison's best-selling Nightfall collection is loom woven of wool and Luxcelle 2 in saturated rich hues in over dyed as well as distressed damask patterns [$2,399].


Nourison makes headlines with a major expansion of its InterHall space at High Point Market, to accommodate the company's expanding rug collections, growing line of Mina Victory pillows and accents, and the new Nico Home brand to be unveiled this market.

Nourison was ahead of the trend to jewel tones with its winning January market debut collections, Twilight, Nightfall and Gemstone. Nourison will ramp up its licensed designer offerings with brand new collections from Calvin Klein Collection, Barclay Butera, Joseph Abboud, and will expand existing collections with new styles added to the Calvin Klein Tundra collection, as well as Nourison's own Silk Shadows and Heritage Hall lines.

Calvin Klein's new Lucia Collection offers finely spun New Zealand wool and viscose yarns hand twisted to form an intricate weave of lush cords. Sophisticated and soft to the touch, a supple suede border anchors these contemporary floor coverings. The Tundra collection is expanded with the Haven design in a soft neutral palette in cool tone washes in slate, charcoal and balsa in wide and narrow bands.

In the new Cooper collection, designer Barclay Butera explores a spectrum of denim blues in soft tones that gain definition from crisp geometric motifs and slim borders.  The Butera rugs offer unique combinations of natural fibers and expertly dyed hides.

The Joseph Abboud Stone Laundered collection evokes the designer's menswear fabric designs. Made of superior grade leather and jute, the handwoven rugs come in a range of colors with subtle tonal variations.

NuLOOM Rugs


Ellie from the Vivid Silk collection by NuLOOM features classic Persian motifs and updated fashion colors with a distressed antique look.


NuLOOM will introduce an impressive and growing variety of fashion-forward floor coverings at High Point Market. The company will introduce a new collection called Jubilee featuring vibrantly colored designs such as Katy and Lana. Vivid Silk, another new collection, includes the Ellie rug, and has been loomed with a distressed antique look.  Both Jubilee and Vivid Silk are machine made of polyester in Turkey and retail at $199 in 5x8.

Known for its fashion approach to rug design, NuLOOM has taken traditional Persian medallion designs and modernized them with new scale and updated fashion colors. "Our new products are bold, intricate, and outstanding with alluring tones of red, blue, and yellow. Oriental Weavers


The globally influenced Highlands collection by Oriental Weavers includes this abstracted plaid design in gray with accents of paprika, teal and bright navy.


Oriental Weavers will deliver rugs tuned into current fashion trends in four important collections at High Point Market.  The Highlands collection by Oriental Weavers is made up of globally-influenced designs in neutral shades of gray with accents of paprika, teal and bright navy. Textured, two-tone polypropylene frieze yarn enhances the visual appeal of this made in the USA collection retailing at $249.  

The Ellerson collection fills consumer demand for geometric designs and hot new colorways such as indigo, gray, ivory and mink in a stunning high and low effect for added textural interested.  Crafted of soft yet durable polypropylene and polyester, the Ellerson line retails at $299. In the Pasha collection, OW combines traditional patterns with cool neutral shades and striking pops of teal and paprika.  The line is machine woven from a soft polypropylene frieze yarn and retails at $249.
Both Ellerson and Pasha are made in Egypt as is the new Meridian indoor outdoor collection featuring a unique tricolor yarn in trend-right shades blue, Aruba blue, Kelly green and tomato red. Safavieh


A new design in Safavieh's successful Valencia line features a fine cross-weave abrash and vibrant palette in tones of tanzanite, sapphire and amethyst outlined in gold.


At High Point Market, Safavieh will show a broad range of rug collections, accent pillows and throws, as well as its increasingly large selection of furniture, lighting and home accents such as garden stools and mirrors. The company has added additional showroom space for the fall market to showcase its Safavieh Couture furniture and rugs, and will prominently display its new Dream collection mattresses.

Safavieh's transitional Evoke range gets expanded this market with the addition of more designs inspired by architectural friezes, from faded geometrics and medallions to washed-out stripes and classic medallion bordered rugs. Power-loomed of high-twist polypropylene yarns in Turkey [$190].

The fashion-right Valencia collection is machine loomed of polyester in Turkey in an unusually fine cross weave to create a lustrous heirloom patina, and the rugs are over-dyed lending classic Persian motifs an updated look [$320].

Vibrant, heathered colors contrast traditional motifs in the Mystique collection of one-million-point weave rugs constructed in unusual cross weave for a unique horizontal abrash.

Expanded popular new collections also include Dip Dyed, which combines color and texture to create fashion-forward ombre effects. Each one-of-a-kind rug is hand-tufted in India of wool and dyed twice to produce motifs in striking gradations of color against a solid ground [5x8, $360]. Surya


The Kodari collection by Surya is hand-knotted with carved accents in designs like this New Zealand wool rug in ruby red with pink sapphire and amethyst accents.


Surya makes an impact with new designs in the Candice Olson licensed collection and an event headlined by the HGTV star designer at High Point Market as reported by RugNews.com here.

The company will also introduce at least a dozen new Surya branded collections, and the much-anticipated launch a line of licensed rugs, pillows and throws by Emma Gardiner at Home. [Read more here].

In addition to rolling out its new designs, Surya has announced the official launch of Artistic Weavers, a sister company that will show at its own dedicated Market Square showroom, space 212 [see listing in Part 1]. New Surya rug lines debuting at High Point Market include Maeva, Kodari and Zambia, each speaking to trending colors, patterns and designs. 

Kodari is hand-knotted in India of New Zealand wool in a medium pile height with carved accents [$3,580 in 6x9].  The Maeva collection, hand knotted of wool and viscose also in a medium pile, offers a lustrous sheen and fringe detail [$2,180 in 6x9].

The new Zambia range, also hand-knotted in India is an innovative blend of 85% bamboo silk and 15% wool.  The low pile rugs have fringe detail and retail at $2,280 in 6x9. Tayse Rugs


Tayse will introduce the Ambiance collection, a polypropylene power-loomed line with romantic vintage styles like Adelaide in polypropylene [$259].

Tayse Rugs is unveiling its first permanent High Point showroom, and the new 3210-foot space will now display more collections and designs at market than ever before. The company will introduce five new collections and add patterns to existing best-selling lines. The Ambiance collection, featuring subtle colors and muted vintage-inspired patterns is machine made of polypropylene [$259]. The Avon collection features an on-point return to bold graphic designs and vivid colors [$259].  Tayse will also introduce the classic traditional Fairmont collection [$349]. All are machine made of polypropylene.

Also new is Cambridge, a range of viscose designs in jewel tones for an opulent look and feel with a cotton backing, and Bristol, a collection of versatile florals in a mix of fashion shades.  All collections are machine-made in Turkey of naturally stain-resistant fibers, and included in a new 200-plus page catalog to be launched at market.
