EDITORS' PICKS: MUST-SEE DESIGNS AT LAS VEGAS MARKET, PART 2


LAS VEGAS --  Part 2 of our exclusive Las Vegas Market preview proves how hot contemporary transitional styles remain through the summer fair. RugNews.com brings you the not-to-be-missed designs from Momeni, Nourison, Nuloom, Oriental Weavers, Rizzy Home, Safavieh, Summit Rug, Surya, Tayse, Trans-Ocean and United Weavers.

MOMENI

Momeni's focus on affordable luxury heads to Las Vegas with debuting collections and bestselling lines introduced earlier in 2916 such as Amelia (pictured below). Amelia's palette of neutrals and blues and classic Persian central medallion designs are crafted in heat set polypropylene. Momeni is also showcasing a range of collections that bring fashion to the indoor outdoor category as well as presenting its new Petra and Lima collections and the award-winning Millennia (read full story). NOURISON

Must-sees at Nourison include the contemporary Divine collection, hand-knotted in combination of textures creating an abstract landscape look, and Nourison 2020, a high end machine made line of polyester and corn fiber. 
Also in the spotlight will be additions to the Twilight and Opaline lines. The designs in the Divine collection (shown below) are woven in a high-low construction using a Nourison patented process to create a herringbone Nourmak flatweave ground and a raised cut pile design. NULOOM

Nuloom forecasts a positive response to its licensed thomaspaul collection based on orders and feedback from buyers attending the spring 2016 High Point Market. The collection includes indoor and outdoor rugs with variety in design, construction, and functionality. In addition, the company debuts three new collections and fresh designs in the popular Dynasty range. Shown, Gabrielle from the new Abstract collection, is machine made in Turkey with 100 percent polypropylene, with an MSRP of $149 in 5x8. Las Vegas Market, A406. 



ORIENTAL WEAVERS

Buyers will find lots of newness at OW, including the debuting polypropylene machine made McKinley collection featuring vibrant floral and folk designs that are sophisticated yet playful (pictured below). Seventeen-color patterns are updated, modern takes on old school florals, with pixelated and over-scaled elements for an edgier vibe. Outdoor continues to grow at OW, as do new plays on traditional classics in the must-see Empire and Andorra collections. Las Vegas Market, C395.

 

RIZZY

Rizzy introduces the hand-tufted in India Suffolk collection for summer markets in a range of transitional and modern designs, all crafted of undyed wool. The neutral color palette of varying shades of gray, cream and tan results from using wool from different breeds of sheep, all with unique tonalities. Styles include updated Persians and tonal geometrics, and surfaces are classic cut piles as well as cut and loop pile. Las Vegas Market, A444. 

 

SAFAVIEH

Safavieh will show new collections and debut additions to existing lines across a broad spectrum of rug categories. The company's high end, all silk Art Nouveau collection is nuanced and softly textured, while a growing assortment of machine woven collections such as Artisan, shown below, and Vintage Persian will be introduced in everything from vivid brights to stylized watercolors. Safavieh brings a range of contemporary designs to market, from overdyed traditional rugs to transitional all-over patterns and abstract designs. Las Vegas Market, A101. 

 

SUMMIT RUGS

Summit Rugs shows off its breadth of rug weaves and designs in the Pavilions at Las Vegas Market this summer, including brand new art-inspired patterns in its abstract collection. Although sampled and displayed in bamboo silk, this hand-knotted collection can be custom made in a wide selection of materials, and in an size specified. Las Vegas Market, P1-3511. 

 
SURYA

Look for in-depth assortments ranging from top of the line hand-knotted designs to new outdoor collections and a wide range of debuting machine made collections with lots of attention paid to creating them with a hand crafted look (Kaitlyn, shown, is machine woven in polypropylene and cotton with an antique wash for rich depth and stitching around the edges inspired by those of hand-knotted rugs ($187 in 5.3 x 7.6). Don't miss Libra One and Taurus One, both in pure wool, by Joe Ginsberg for Surya. A reversible flatweave, Taurus One is handwoven while Libra one is hand-knotted in a medium pile. TAYSE

Launching several new color creels and constructions, Tayse spotlights its Expressions collection (shown) to provide an affordable machine made alternative to over-dyed vintage rugs. The collection uses the high definition printing technology. Also new: a solid color flatweave indoor/outdoor collection, Serenity, and Kensington, a range that updates classic Oriental designs with a frieze polypropylene yarn for surface interest. TRANS-OCEAN

The Capri and Playa collections, both part of the "Everywhere" series designed for Trans-Ocean by Liora Manne, take indoor-outdoor to the height of fashion. Capri is a blend of polyester and acrylic hand-tufted in China; Playa is Wilton woven in Turkey of polypropylene. Jellyfish is Capri and Ikat is Playa. On-point looks also debut from the high-low Roma range, crafted of wool and viscose for a subtle sheen, the all wool Piazza collection. Las Vegas Market, C475.

 

UNITED WEAVERS
 

All eyes will be on United Weavers' debut of the Christopher Knight Mirage collection, with its state of the art combination of six colors of plush heatset olefin yarn with silk-like polyester and lycra-like polyester. The combination gives each design a subtle sheen and soft, high-low definition in a tight 750,000 point construction. Also on the must-see list is Antiquities (below), a heatset polyester machine woven product with classic Oriental rug styling and a very soft hand. Las Vegas Market, A409.
