AMER TO DEBUT NINE COLLECTIONS
IN LUXURY AND NEW MID-PRICED WEAVES

Amer Rugs' new Joy collection is a Soumak weave combining hand spun wool and raised art silk

NORCROSS, GA - Amer Rugs will introduce nine new collections at High Point Market, April 18 to 23, making 2015 the most prolific in terms of new designs in the company's history. "If you haven't seen Amer lately, then you haven't seen Amer," said Joe Barkley, vice president of sales and marketing.  "We've introduced a lot of new collections, both in luxury hand-knotted rugs and products that take us into a larger rug pool. The line is much more comprehensive than the traditional hand-knotted people expect from Amer," he explained.

"We had terrific success when we introduced bright colors in January and we are building on that momentum with the Joy collection which is a Soumak weave that combines hand spun wool and raised art silk," said Amer president Tanuj Gupta. The lustrous rugs (which retail at $1999 in 6x9) will debut this week in elaborate two-color textile motifs that capture the essence of the return to glamour in in all areas of interior furnishings.

Prior to High Point, Gupta said the company's introductions in winter markets totaled over 100 new designs that included everything from woven and loomed products to the hand-knotted Argentum collection which is made in Afghanistan. "We have had a tremendous start for the year, and are very fortunate first three months of 2015 have been our biggest ever in comparable month-to month sales," Gupta said.

Barkley is optimistic going into this week's market. "We are very encouraged with the potential traffic our preliminary calls suggest.  But this market seems different from prior High Point shows: we see it more and more as a designer market or for furniture stores with design departments.  A lot of those stores are coming," Barkley said.

"We've changed our direction: our rugs are brighter, more colorful, and there is more excitement over our new designs going into market," he added. The nine new collections premiering at High Point Market include the following (all made in India and all prices quoted are for the 8x10 size):

Naturals - hand loomed jute and cotton ($399 for 8x10)

Zola - hand loomed jute and rayon ($399 for 8x10)

Kanoka - hand tufted loop pile in tie dyed New Zealand wool and art silk ($699 for 8x10)

Elana - a flat weave of blended wool ($499 for 8x10)

Bella - a hand woven dhurrie of wool and cotton ($599 for 8x10)

Amber - a hand woven dhurrie wool and sari silk ($899 for 8x10)
