NEW YORK - New York Home
Fashions Market is slated to be a busy event for some retail buyers, who
have jam-packed schedules in their bid for fresh approaches from not
just existing rug vendors, but new ones as well. "We're going in with a
list of vendors we are already working with, along with a number of new
vendors that are worth getting to know," says one buyer with a national
specialty retailer, who asked not to be identified.
"We've
already seen them perhaps in Atlanta in January or overseas, but now we
might want to finalize some programs or test some new vendors with a
project," he says, adding that his team is "looking for newness, and
also looking for what is down trending."
And New York Home Fashion
Week will likely not disappoint, given that rug manufacturers have been
busy rolling out new collections, some of which offer a fresh
perspective on an existing trend, while others take off in a bold
unexpected direction.
Time-enduring patterns
and crafts remain directional, but innovative techniques and
technologies have expanded the possibilities of the latest crop of rug
introductions. So while traditional designs continue to be re-cast,
color stories get tweaked and some unexpected rug styles surface.
Here is a first glimpse
of what rug makers will be showcasing during New York Home Fashion Week,
March 23 to 27, 2015. New York City addresses are listed for each
company.

we did at previous shows," he explains, noting that Safavieh's recent
