SURYA BUILDS ON 'SURYA SPACES' SUCCESS WITH DESIGNERS SHOPPING ATLANTA MARKET

Black and white is a recurring theme in the summer edition of the Surya Spaces look book, here interpreted with a nod to Surya's relaxed lifestyle Creatures of Comfort trend.

ATLANTA - The Surya Spaces program continues to build momentum with designers, and was front and center in lifestyle display vignettes at the summer edition of the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market.

At its 11th floor AmericasMart showroom, the company's four Surya Spaces lifestyle themes for 2019 -- Classic Rebel, Mod Squad, Creatures of Comfort and Escape Artist - were tweaked with new immersive interpretations based on continually updated inspiration photos posted by the program's online community.

RugNews.com queried Surya president Satya Tiwari about the growing program and its importance to the company for trend forecasting as well as product design.  "We basically have two businesses: one is retailers and e-commerce, and the other is designers," he explained. "The design business is what we are most committed to with Surya Spaces. It's our way of showing how designers and end-use consumers are using our products - often in ways we would never have thought of.

"With all the crowd-sharing and data we are getting, we are ahead of the trends. The crowd is always right." - Satya Tiwari, Surya

"The response has been amazing; designers are looking for inspiration, and the photos posted to our online gallery are both inspirational and practical." Tiwari pointed to a Volume 3 edition of the quarterly Surya Spaces look book, released to coincide with summer market. "The photos we produce for our look book are inspired by how people are using our products. We also feature photos of home interiors by designers- it's a great way to give exposure to our design customers."

The newly released Surya Spaces Look Book Vol. 03 was a hit with designers at the Atlanta International Gift & Home Furnishings Market.

Indeed, designers are credited for their outstanding work in the Surya Spaces print publication, and the photos posted online. which link back to the original content always provide shopping information. Shelter book-worthy interiors in Surya Spaces Vol. 3, for example, were provided by designers Cassy Mathis of Haven Design Works, Pamela Dyer of Home on Fern Hill, Madison Lussier of Madison Nicole Design and Bridget Burns of B. Burns Designs, Inc.

Tracking Trends

Tiwari says a wealth of trend information is gathered through Surya Spaces postings, and immersive product vignettes in market showrooms bring the latest trend info to life. "Trends are evolving. We look at trends in the upholstery world, in apparel, and from global influencers. We use analytics to track trends from Surya Spaces as well as from transaction data. With 10,000 orders within any month we are learning from our customers."

At Surya, trends are tweaked throughout the year as a result of this data. "Bohemian may be new to consumers but not to designers - so they may update the look with gold metallic, for example," Tiwari continued. I"n our look book, we're featuring black and white rooms, which have been around for 30 years. But how are our customers are updating Black and White, reinventing it, reinterpreting it?  With all the crowd-sharing and data we are getting, we are able to get ahead of the trends. The crowd is always right."

At Atlanta Market, attendees found this display highlighting a newly updated iteration of Surya Spaces' Classic Rebels lifestyle.

This season, Surya explores mixing patterns in The Classic Rebel, going bold with primary colors in The Mod Squad, living a relaxed life in The Creatures of Comfort and the art of the staycation in The Escape Artist. These featured styles are further supported with a video, and expanded accessory selections online at surya.com/suryaspaces.

"In our industry, being creatively inspired and fashion-forward is paramount to business success," Tiwari said. "As a design-centric company, we love seeing the inspired environments our customers create using Surya accessories. Customers can check in daily for new content that is sourced from around the world and is easily accessible through our company."
