BELOVED RUG INDUSTRY ICON LISSA WYMAN DIES

Lissa Wyman, founder of Rugnews.com and rug industry icon died on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at her home in Manhattan.

NEW YORK, NY  - Lissa Wyman, founder of Rugnews.com and rug industry icon died on Tuesday, November 18, 2014 at her home in Manhattan. At her side was her beloved husband and business partner Bud Wyman, who is planning a memorial service to be announced at a later date.

Wyman would have celebrated her 71st birthday on December 16. A 44-year veteran of the floor covering news business, Wyman began her career in New York covering the carpet beat for Home Furnishings Daily, which later became HFN. She was rug editor for several other publications over the years, including Floor Covering Weekly and Furniture Today. Wyman founded RugNews.com in 2000, and pioneered web-based news coverage of the rug industry.

Dear friends and readers of rugnews.com

It is with great sorrow that I bring you the news of the death of my beloved wife and business partner, Lissa Wyman. Lissa passed away on Tuesday, November 18, following a long illness which, as many of you know, she battled bravely for the past few years.

Lissa's behind the scenes team will all remain in place at RugNews.com, and we have retained Lissa's longtime friend and co-worker, Carol Tisch to take the helm. Lissa and I both felt no one else was more qualified to carry out the editorial mission with the same standards of excellence our readers expect from RugNews.com.

Lissa's goal has always been to provide a community for rug professionals to share their thoughts on the challenges and triumphs of the business. It will give us great comfort and solace to have you, her dearly loved friends in the rug industry, share your thoughts and fond memories of Lissa with comments on her labor of love, RugNews.com.
